My sister is very hard to buy for.She mentioned a few weeks ago that one day she wants to get an mp3 player..So when discussing my sisters gift awhile ago with mom I mentioned this ..suggested making it a gift that mom ,dad and I get for sis..well .."i dont know" Ok My Mom just called me and says that would be a geat idea.. I stopped researching them ( I know very little about them) now I am supposed to go try to get one a few days before christmas..I promised I would TRY..no guarantees,,

So any advice etc is greatly appreciated.I figured a lower end one so if she needs more storage she can upgrade to a better one later..but I dont want to go el cheapo either...

I have a Creative Zen that is 5GB, cost around $170 and I really like because I can READ the #$%! screen. LOL

iPods are the standard, but are pretty pricey.

And I see they have an itty bitty one that clips to your clothes now. I'm not sure what they hold, but it would be nice to have one so light and little if you jog or shop with it.

You'll also need portable speakers for it and headphones.

I think she mainly wants it to have for her car so she doesnt have to tote a ton of CDs around..maybe to use at work on occasion when her truck drivers are bothering her with really stupid questions too ;-) Thanks!Guess I will be going to WalMart tonight BEFORE we open our SS gifts..

Most of the kids here have iPod Nanos. they are about $249 (for 8GB) at Best Buy right now. They also have a neat hook-up for your car stereo. And iTunes Gift Certificates are easy to find.....

It is my understanding that the Ipods are propriatary. as in they don't accept typical formats that others will accept. Plus thay are pricey. At one time they had a rechargable battery, whenit died it's last death it was too bad. I like the ones that use standard store bought batteries.

I have a phone with I-tunes and I can load most mp3s on to it - I have a handy program that converts them into I-pod compatible tunes.
