YIKES! Can you move the horses away from the area? It is scary, they could catch a stray bullet.

I remember my FIRST night in a new house in Grantsville. One of the neighbors got in a shootout with police. I went in the basement where we had concrete walls. It was scary. Funny thing, but those neighbors turned out to be some of the best, and their kids still call me Aunt Carol.

Good luck Shelley...hope all turns out well.

Ok I went out and talked to the cops to make sure I should not lock horses up etc..apparently the problem is not here in my yard but accross from forrest farms....right here is a meeting place for the family (I know the family wishing them luck) the family member is down by forrest farms and shiat is happening..dont want to say too much..but it is not a crazy person shooting at people I think he only wants to shoot himself

Oh how sad.

We had a marine here kill himself last summer when he was called back. I don't think most of us have any idea how terrifying it is to serve over there where you have no idea who the enemy is and you know you could be killed at anytime. I think the terror that many live with day and night for months on end is just too much. And the military is a very bad place for honest feelings. Fear is covered up in bravo and no one dares to say they're scared or get counciling. Remember, 80% have no idea what the mission is and 60% still think it has to do with Saddem's role in 9-11  Not really an environment for honesty.

I hope they all missed and get him somewhere he can get help.

Shooter Down in Leonardtown
Leonardtown 12/26/2006

This Story Has Been Viewed 60 Times Since 12/26/2006

By Anna Bedford

As of 10 p.m. last night police responded to a residence in Dusty Lane, off Brown Road in Leonardtown.

According to Sheriff Tim Cameron, a man barricaded himself inside his home, with several weapons, and was reportedly suicidal.

During the night the man fired several shots from the residence. Four different tactical teams rotated through the night at the scene of the residence, Sheriff Cameron told The Bay Net. At one point the suspect shot at a cop car, which had an officer inside. That officer was fortunately not injured.

At 1 p.m. this afternoon it was reported that the suspect had been taken down, and fatally shot. “I cannot yet confirm that,” said Cameron, as he spoke with The Bay Net minutes later, although that was the message coming from the scene.

Does this make any sense? The man was suicidal so SWAT shows up to shoot and kill him....... tragic, yes, but can't help but to see the irony.

IT is called suicide by police.
SWAT is called in to control the situation and keep the person from harming others. IF the suicidal person points/shoots at officers, they are allowed to take him down to preserve human lives, their own included.
Some suspects know this and deliberately USE this knowledge to keep from taking their own life, by forcing law enforcement to do it for them.
A moral dilemma for the victim, the remaining family, the department and the officers involved.

Some people also suffer depths depression that I pray to God I will never know. Some of them commit suicide specifically by acting in a manner that will gaurantee the police will "do it" for them.
We can never know what was going through this poor guys mind.

My prayers for his family.

Glad your ok too!
