 Yeah i know ..a lot of subjects...
Well Christmas eve finds me 130 miles from my destination broken down on the side of a busy 2 lane road ..thumping the dashboard crying "please! just a 130 miles more! please!(turns out to be the transmission as I suspected) couldnt get AAA on my cell as it was a bad area..so i am waiting for cops to show up and 2 cars happened to "bingle" right behind me..but then they took off up the road so I guess everyone was ok...finally a firetruck saw me and pulled up behind and set out orange cones  Marvelous guys! they called around on THEIR cell phone to get a tow truck and help me find a rental for the rest of the way then waited over an hour till the tow truck showed up! God bless em!
Then the tow truck driver got me all hooked up and towed me to their lot..unhooked the cargo trailer and left it so I could pick it up again easily and parked my poor old friend in another corner  I loved that van! (the repair shop says a USED tranmission will cost $1500  ) anyways..then the tow truck driver drove me all the way to the airport (at speed) so I could rent a vehicle before they closed at 7pm waited around till he was sure I was ok..then I followed him back to the lot so I could retreive my 3 Jack Russells (waiting in the van) and all my stuff..I mean how nice is that???
NC is absolutely beautiful!! and everyone is SO nice! I havnt seen so much food and gifts from perfect strangers before! all welcome to the neighbourhood gifts and Christmas gifts
Now you might think me weird ...but I have SEEN this house before a couple of years ago in a dream! I tell ya its the same house! I remember asking myself and Becky.."WHY would we be looking after some guys huge house??" and we were going like "Hahahahaha yeah right!" sure enough...Becky has seen the driveway leading up to it in her dreams too...whoooeeeee! talk about freaky! Anyhow..its REALLY beautiful and yes martha Stewart used to live here  jk..all the curtains DO match the wallpaper and the maids quarters which is my room even the ceiling is papered same as the walls  I was checking out the closet and found a dust ruffle for the bed..but i declined to add MORE
matching flowers to this room LOLOLOLOL Oh and a ps..Becky has added a beautiful pinto paso mare to our collection ;-) pictures to follow as soon as she is NOT all muddy...chanting.."it WILL stop raining"

What a generous heart you must have...after all the trials to just GET here. A lot of people would have been permanently soured on the whole ball of wax! Glad you enjoyed your visit...we like it here too. :D

Oh Dianne!!!!

First, thank you for the update! Wow! What a story. I can't imagine all you and Becky have been through clear across this country and back again. Amazing.

Second, I am DELIGHTED you are there, safe, sound, and happy!!! That is great news.

Third, you are absolutely right about the people. :-)

:yay

PS - if you know any firemen (and you might now! LOL) see if they can give you some "Wet Water"...it is a Fire Fighting Foam. It is the very best anything there is at taking down wallpaper!!!! Soaks right through and desolves the glue! Awesome stuff.

Glad you enjoyed your visit...we like it here too. Not just a visit...here to stay as long as needed..which I am thinking is going to be a long while ;-) But Thankyou for the compliments and to us its ALL a part of the adventure  I am afraid Becky has inherited some of my gypsy blood though poor girl!
Carol, thanks for the wallpaper hint I shall get them to try that out! so far one room in particular the stripping of it has dragged off peices of drywall as well so now they have to skim coat over it.
Anyone have hints on how keep acres of butcher block countertops in good shape?? or what to polish the wood floors with? please and thanks in advance

To clean butcher's block pour on some rock salt, cut a lemon in half and start scrubbing! Then just wipe off with damp cloth. Sounds weird but it does a great job on cleaning the wood. I think linseed oil is good for wood floors. Good luck - sounds great!
