Per the current stats as listed on the AERC site two of the 3 top place finshes in the AERC National Limited Distance (same horse/rider ) Mileage Championship went to gaited horses. In first place was a Rocky Mountain Horse with 1010 miles for the year and in third was a Tennessee Walker with 850 miles. Runner-up (4th) position went to a Paso Fino with 625 miles, the 2006 PFHA Endurance Horse of the Year, Pasarab's Abierto.
In the AERC Regional Limited Distance (same horse/rider team) Mileage Championships the following results were noted:
Central Region: First place went to a Tennessee Walker, 5th and 6th to Missouri Foxtrotters.
Midwest Region: First place went to a Rocky Mountain Horse and third to a Paso Fino, Pasarab's Abierto.
Northwest Region: Fourth place to a Paso Fino, Arrow (not registered that we can find).
Southeast Region: First place to a Paso Fino, Pocita de Cosa Dulce.
West Region: First place to a Tennessee Walker.
It is my understanding that all the riders will receive hooded jackets with their regional standing and the horse's name embroidered on them.
No juniors placing rode gaited horses. Guess their bodies hold up better to all the trotting!
