View Full Version : Batman is the USEF Horse of the Year Champion Paso Fino

01-04-2006, 05:16 PM
Congratulations to Alex Klepak for making Batman (Prometheus de La Tierra) the Farnam/Platform - USEF Horse of the Year Champion Paso Fino! Batman only earned points in USEF sanctioned shows where he competed in amateur owner and open classes against at least 3 horses and none of her youth classes counted. Batman also made the Top Ten Geldings for this past season, placing 7th, due to Alex's efforts. He was also the High Point Pleasure Gelding.

In addition, Alex also rode Pistolero de Alexandra to make him a PFHA Top Ten Gelding as well as the High Point 3 Year Old Bella Forma Gelding.

Tikal de Nevado was 5th of the USEF Top Ten Paso Finos this past season and made the Top Ten the year before, too. Since he's a stallion, Alex was not allowed to show him in the previous years, but she hopes to show him later this year when he's not breeding.

On a lesser note, I won the 2005 USEF/Performance Horse Registry Leading Owner Award and the 2005 USEF/Performance Horse Registry Leading Breeder Award. Alex is in school now so we will be unable to attend the Performance Horse Registry/Silver Stirrup Awards Luncheon during the USEF Annual Meeting to be formally presented with our awards.

Remember that Lori has a breeding to Tikal de Nevado available in her breeding contest. I hope he will follow in his father, Nevado's footsteps and also one day be the USEF Leading Sire in Paso Finos. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as the old adage goes.....

Horse show moms just drive and pay the bills....Alex (and Kelley Cox and Don Primrose) did all the real work!

I list myself as a coach so I can talk to her in the ring, but have the routine down pat by now...."look up, smile, lean back, loosen up on the reins, you look good" every time she goes past me. Some coaching....LOL  Of course, equitation is a little different.."look up, look snooty, lean back, loosen up on the reins." And when she's showing with the adults...."get Batman's nose out of that horse;s butt, circle around". Maybe I should have my own RFD tv show series......Elements of being a winning kid's mom or how to go broke even faster as a parent than as an owner..... Moving even farther down the list of importance in your own home and liking it.....Why your horse's comfort is more important that your own.....Clothes, tack, and accessories are for kids and their horses only....How to carry ribbons, dust rags, hoof black, drinks, cell phones and other things at shows without complaining....Jogging to the barn (or racing to the tack dealer/store) for that forgotten item before the class starts.... I bet I could get a lot of other parents to be guests, too.

Congrats to all of you. I know how hard Alex (and therefore you too -that's how it is to be a supportive mom) have worked to achieve this. And Batman, well, he's just the perfect horse. ;-) I too got to ride Batman (thanks again) but I'm not nearly as cute as Lori so I'll leave you with the picture of her riding.

WOW!!! Congrats, so now we'll see pics of the Batman and Alex in an upcoming Equestrian magazine and the PFHW, right?!

Lynn,

Actually the picture that I told Darlene Wohlart to send USEF was a head shot of Batman showing his famous ears. I needed a shot ASAP (by the 15ht) with a signed release and that was the fastest way to get a picture of him. Otherwise there wouldn't be any paso fino shots in the magazine that I know of.... Alex understood, especially since she had no choice in the matter.

There will be a picture of Alex and Batman in the upcoming PFHW magazine in the Top Ten Geldings, as well as Alex riding Pistolero de Alexandra in the same issue.

yes, 8-) Lori do zero in closer on that picture so we can see Batman's ears! What did you think  . I do like that picture. He is a sport & yes Lori you look great too, Famous horse and famous girls go well together.
there is a story about the space between ears of a horse.I wish I could remeber it comes from old days like Arabian legend or something like that.

sporthorse- I wouldn't exactly say I'm famous...maybe infamous.
See BatmanRox avatar...it IS the close up of the head on that picture. The only problem is the background is so dark.

I'm trying to get the layout ad we did in Showtime of Batman and Alex to post here. I think it looks really good. 8-)
