Ok, I got one of the photos but it sure is big. I sized it in paint before I uploaded to photobucket, I guess it needs to be smaller huh? Also, I copied two IRL's but only got one picture. Here's the other onehttp://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p125/margieann52/Tazz.jpg

YOu know, he has the sweetest face. What a pretty boy. (I know, you are asking about his back, but I can't resist that face)

Don't forget the paso fino saddles too. We don't own one but plenty of people use them as well as McClellans. With a McClellan you have to use a sheepskin seat saver though or they're pretty miserable and not all McClellans are alike. Some fit you and the horse really well and others are jumk and don't fit at all. You might PM CindyG and see what kind of saddle she trains in.
And we too think he's gorgeous and doesn't look in any way abnormal.

I train in a McClellen made by A and M Western Wear. But I have not seen them for a while so I don't think they are in business any more. I heard they both had health problems. Too bad as he makes a great saddle. I have never had a problem with a well made McClellen fitting any Paso.
As for the question of the back and the saddle, because he has such prominent withers, some of the cheaper saddles will not fit as they do not have enough padding. A well made saddle of any kind should fit with no problem though. Just make sure that when you are in the saddle it does not sit on his withers.

Amen to sitting in the saddle. The first saddle we got seemed fine on Chinook who also has high withers but when we sat in it we didn't have but one finger between the underside of the pommel and her withers. This is when we went to the felt pad or the grippy one. Of course she bulked up a bit too which helps.
Cindy what kind of saddle pad do you use and do you use a sheepskin seat saver with it???

I have a McClellan from Mesace which fits pretty good. Not the most comfortable, so I bought a pad from Casa Dosa at Nats for it. It is pretty comfy now.
This is the pad I bought for it:

I normally just use a good old western thick pad but I needed a new one at Natiionals and could not find one like that so I got one from Doug that is I guess you would call it neoprene on the bottom and cotton on the top. I like it so far. I have one of those bath mats on this saddle but have used the pad like Bonnie just showed on some other modified McClellens. I did not think it would fit this one well so I opted for the other. I also use one like Bonnie showed on one of my show dressage saddles. They fit a wide variety of saddles.
