I recieved this email today, I know Cathy, have trimmed for her. She has a huge heart and it pains me that she is going through such a time as this. Please help in any way you can.
Hi everyone,
This time, I'm writing to ask for your help. A friend of mine, Cathy
Yingling, director of New Life Equine Rescue located in New Windsor, MD,
lost her husband this past weekend suddenly and unexpectedly. I know that
she has some very difficult days ahead, & I'm hoping that we can all find a
way to help her out. If anyone would like to make a donation, whether it be
monetary or a gift of horse related supplies/equipment, or has room in their
heart & barn for one of these special horses (either to adopt or foster), I
would greatly appreciate it. For more information about the rescue & a list
of currently available horses, please visit www.nler.org.
Not very long ago, I received an email about a 4 yr old TB racehorse that
was about to be put down by the owner, because he'd gotten some dirt in his
eye & developed an infection, causing partial loss of vision in the one
eye. This was a nice, quiet horse with his whole life ahead of him, about
to lose his life because he could no longer race. It was mid-week & he
didn't have much time, he was to be euthanized on Friday. I forwarded the
email to everyone I knew, then asked the girl who was trying to find a home
for him if she'd had any luck. She hadn't. I emailed Cathy & asked her if
she could take the horse, but she couldn't - she was at her limit. She said
that she would check around though, & maybe something would turn up. Within
hours, she had found a good home for the horse, saving his life, since he
was about to be put down. She did this even though she had so many of her
own horses she was trying to find homes for; she still found it in her heart
to find a home & save the life of one more. This is just one example of
Cathy's character & the type of person she is. Another was her
determination to found, in collaboration with another rescue, an EAP program
(Equine Assisted Psychotherapy) for handicapped kids & the rescue horses.
This is an exciting program which benefits both kids & horses.
I know that together we can help Cathy get thru this difficult time. And I
know that she & the horses will appreciate your thoughts & kindness.
Thanks,
Diana
