I had to go to town and get allergy shots and ran some errands while there. In WalMart I ran into some dear old friends. They told me a story that sounds JUST like Tooele County.

Their son Kevin was at a party and all drinking, got in a fight with some other guests. The host kicked them out of the house to fight outside and called the Police. Three guys beat him up, and left him unconcious in the road. The County Sherrif, responding to the fight ran over him. Didn't notice he ran over him, and drug him until he heard Kevin screaming. The City Police responded and helped the Sherriff get Kevin out from under the truck. Hearing the sirens, Kevin (barely concious) asked who it was. The Police told him it was the Ambulance. Kevin asked, "are they going to run over me too??"

The Ambulance took him to the local hospital, who promptly med-evac'd him to Salt Lake. The City Police (not the Sherriff department that ran over him) called his dad. When Jeff asked what had happened, they told him he was in a fight..."and oh, yeah, the Sherrif accidently ran over him too." When Jeff asked how this could happen, he was told "well, the Sherrif was trying to read house numbers and didn't see him lying in the street."

When the bills for the Ambulance ($1K) and Med-evac ($10K) arrived, Kevin was told by the County to send them to his own Auto Insurance!!!  He wasn't anywhere NEAR his car when he was run over!

The County never checked on him at the hospital, asked how he was doing, or had their insurance agent contact him to pay his expenses (Utah is a no-Fault state). The accident wasn't in the paper, listed on the Sherriff's docket or investigated by the Sherriff's Department.

I'm going to try that next time I get pulled over for speeding, "Oh, I didn't see the speedomter, I was trying to read house numbers."

Holy cow!
We recently had an incident here where a member of the sheriff's dept. told deputies to destroy a field of marijuana. Turns out that it was a special plant grown for deer feed that vaguely resembles MJ. The sheriff's dept. won't acknowledge that they did wrong or wiped this man out of over $10k of plants. The main person that did this is my cousin's soon to be ex. He supposedly yelled at a deputy that he had been in narcotics work for 25 years and knew what MJ looked like and THAT was MJ! Morons.
