Telemarketers are getting even worse !

:realmad Phone rang this morning - a "so-called" non- profit group against sex and violence in movies did their spiel and THEN asked for permission to have a company call me back ! :rant Told her absolutely NO and hung up :!:
Told her there is a reason I am on a NO CALL list with Fed's and my state !

Ditto....I love when I can tell its them, because I completely mess with them until THEY hang up. :twisted: I can't stand those ppl...I swear, they are a different breed of humans.

They called me a while back too. I got a kick out of it. They said to me something like, "so, don't you think that violence in TV and the movies is harming our children and causing all the horrible things in the world?". I said, " no, I don't." They could not understand why I would not allow them to give my number to this political group looking for money when they absolutely knew the answer to the worlds problems and if I would just give them money they would strike down that evil Hollywood that is corrupting our world. :roll:

My stock answer to telemarketers is, "Sorry, I never give over the phone anymore. Never ... but thanks for calling."

I got one of these a few weeks ago, too. Basically, they wanted to make a 'better rating system' for movies and television. I told them: I didn't think a rating system could take the place of parents ACTUALLY RAISING THEIR CHILDREN and if more parent RAISED THEIR CHILDREN and PARTICIPATED IN THEIR LIVES there would be less need for 'watchdog groups' to police everyone else and tell them what to do.

Thank goodness for caller ID. When something comes through that is obviously a telemarketer, I pick the phone up and lay it on the counter. It hasn't done any good to let the answering machine pick it up, so I will just waste their time. Wish I had a good snappy dialog to do with them.

I have found that when I answer the phone, if there is a pause after I say "hello," it is the computer transfering the call to a person. I hang up right then. Works almost all the time...except the local fund raisers. My phone isn't listed, so I'm really not sure how I got on their lists. :(

BTW, Heidi and Cindy..I totally agree. Although I do look at the trailers for the movie "Hitchhiker" and wonder how many loony tunes are out there that will be inspired by the movie, and think that Holywood really does go too far with the violence. I don't think THAT is why kids kill. I totally agree that parents should RAISE their own kids, monitor and limit their television, participate in their lives. When I was a kid, we each got to watch one show a week. So the TV was on for the news and 'maybe' one show an evening. The rest of the time it was OFF.

When I had foster kids, the ONE thing everyone of them had in common was that their parent's participation in their lives seemed to be limited to birthing them. No lessons, sports, family activites...nothing. It was amazing. Why even have them?

I'm on the no call list too but still get them :roll: . Now as soon as I figure out it's one of them.. I interrupt them with " Sorry, I cant talk right now.." and down goes the reciever. Works everytime... :D

Mixed bag.

Well, we both agree that parents should take responsibiligy and raise their own kids = conservative.
We both agree that the government shouldn't regulate Holywood = Libertarian and/or Liberal. Liberals would tell you it is a 2nd Amendment Freedom of Speech issue. Libertarians would say the government should stay OUT of individual's lives as much as possible.

All three are right. IMHO ;-)
