That is flipping unbelievable that the poor horse can even walk. I have NEVER seen anything like that. Glad they found her and hope they send the stupid woman who owned her to jail.

OMG, that is the worst case I have ever seen. Poor horse. The punishment didn't really seem to fit the crime did it. :-?

Poor horse prabably had 10-15yrs of abuse and the woman only faces $750fine and or possible 90days in jail. Just sick that justic system would only do so little to the woman.. I sure hope the judge is more harsh...

One pony we took in from a neighbor had hooves banana shaped curved over. I was too young to know about trimming them might be bad. My uncle sawed them off and had them trimmed. He never went lame which was mazing and took me on many super speedy rides growing up.
I hope this horse has a good recovery and a great new home.

When we first moved to Seba, there was a pony here with hooves not quite THAT long, but certainly MUCH longer than any I'd ever seen before. They were so bad that they, too, curled upward and the poor thing had to walk on her heels.
I offered to buy that pony so they went out and trimmed the hooved RIGHT DOWN TO NORMAL LENGTH in one cutting! Apparently it didn't hurt her ... but I didn't wind up buying her because all of a sudden this little pony that they didn't want became a highly valuable mare that they would "let me" purchase for $1,500!

It was a pony with feet like that which got me interested in learning to trim hooves. I think I was ten years old when I got my first set of hoof nippers for my birthday...
I begged and begged my mom for a set of nippers so I could go and trim the pony.... she even drove me to where the old pony was, pretty much abandoned in a field... She held that pony while I removed the "Persian Slippers"...never did find out who owned the pony... but I used to go and check on it about once a month.... that pony totally "addicted me" to farriery... the pony and the farrier Walt Nichols who trimmed my horse and gave me lessons in trimming when I was just a little kid... ;-)
