They must first be downloaded to a website... I use photbucket.com, they cannot exceed size for the BB...there is a thread on how to post photos elswhere on the BB. (WHERE is that thread Lori???)
I usually do not let them exceed 500 DPI.
At photobucket, you can edit and downsize them for here if need be.

Eeek...will someone please help this person (gentleman or lady) post some pics to this board. Being a relatively new owner of a lovely Palomino PPR mare, I eat up pictures of PPR's! Always learning!!

Terry is right, I like to use www.photobucket.com to upload my pix first. There is a an "message board" size option you will want to select before uploading. Once you have the photo uploaded, copy the IMG code under the pic, and paste it here in your post on APF.

Carol Nelson this one is specially for you since you like palominos (and I'm a gent')
The first picture is, Kofresi, one of the most highlighted stallions of his time and his gens are spread among much of the ppr and half blood in the states.
The golden palomino is Cupido also a very well known ppr paso fino of all time riden by the legend himself...Cunda Figueroa who was the first pr horseman inducted in the paso fino hall of fame.
I'll try to post some more pics tomorrow...

I'm not sure what size he choose when he uploaded....there is an option on photobucket for "Message Board" size. That is the best one to choose to post here. But I think you have to choose that option before hitting the upload button. So he might have to start over if he chooses to resize them. ;-)

Sigh...I don't know Mr. Prof. I think I groomed all of her dapples out...here she is during the summer ridden by our son, Daniel...he might look like a hooligan but he isn't at all ...and he loves riding Bunny! He's very gentle with her and she loves to go! She rides in a simple sidepull.

Barbwire what can I say...so they call me, "the Professional of the bridle"
that was like a title inscripted on a sword that I received as a trophy as "Best Trainer of the Year" long ago and that's how my nickname came to life 8-) . Nevertheless, if that horse is not dead, then its a pretty good horse trick  . Definitely dead, yeah definitely (remember the movie "The Rainman").
Carol Nelson, that's why I say "in the shadow". The dapples are like a sign of a good coat health. Some products, like BIOTINE, along with a balanced diet would do the trick... and shadow! I remembered a mare that I had that was as light-coated as yours, and took several months to get onto the golden palomino that I wanted.

Hi Motorgypsy, That babe of yours is a beauty, she has that kind looking face and alert to her surroundings. I can tell because of the different ear positions  . She also had a Kofresi concentration in her pedigree that translates to a royalty lineage.
That second picture of your I used long ago (cant remember were I foud it) to plase an exsample of an accident waitting to hapend situation. Hoppe she was'nt yours at that time. Besides, look a great dam category in that same picture.
The third pic is very interesting, one doesen't have to be there to know how easy she goes, lose reins, smooth gait is Princesa de Savana. The last picture is the best, versatility in motion. Paso largo if I'm not mistaken. Good idea to have protection equipment like the endurance helmet, but its also important to protect horses' legs as if no legs no horse saying.
I also doubt the stallion from the picture is your mare's sire, since this picture is realy old, if you know what I mean...but who knows! Thank you Motorgypsy for sharing these beautiful pics. I'll post some of myself riding along.

Well Carol, is very difficult to know for sure since the picture is in black and white...but for the mane and tail looks like you're guessing right about Monterey. But as far as I can tell, Ancama is dark chestnut and Chocolate a dark bay...what we call a "Zebruno" (bay with a black hair concentration on the coat).

In what way is picture two an accident waiting to happen? Just curious?
If you mean the bridge, it is sanded and not slippery and they generally jump the stream anyway. It's been here for more than six years with no problems. We are in very rugged mountains with many trees, rocks, roots so our horses are like goats - very surefooted and sensible.
Her name is Princesa de la Sabana on her registration papers with Asociacion nacional del deporte de caballos de Paso Fino de Puerto Rico. She was bred by Jaime Sosa who sold her to Felix Bared who then sold her to Pedro Quinones who still owns her grandaughter the last I heard. We have two of her fillies but both by Colombian stallions. They are large, powerful and wonderfully gaited. The next breeding I'm looking for a PPR stallion though.

Don't mind me about an "accident waiting to happen" stuff. You see, I didn't know that was a bridge. So if I'm of any assistance with pedigree documents or something, dont hesitate!!

Hey I've been having some computer problems and looks like I have been missing out on this Puerto Rican Paso post!
Professional......those are some beautiful pics of PR horses in Puerto Rico but do you know we also have some very nice US bred PR stallions? I'm sure you have heard of Frio Viento (2 time National Fino Champion).? Well I have his last producing son "Cale's Helado Oro"standing here in North east Pennsylvania! He is a beautiful Chocolate palomino stallion with gait, intelligence and temperament to match. He has the ability to pass these qualities on to his offspring also.
My "Frost" is also a grandson of Bolero LaCE whom I know you have heard of since he was imported from PR. Bolero is Foundation Horse for both the Pure Puerto Rican Federation and PFHA....he of course won in the showring in Fino and I believe in Bella Forma.( 2 time Fino champion).
When I saw those pics of Cupido you posted I thought "WOW that looks like Frost"! He actually reminds me a lot of Batalla in looks and conformation(he has a lot of Batalla on his top side). Here's a couple pics of Frost........
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/119656frstpapadresz-med.jpg
Frost has just begun his show career but has done very well. He pretty much wins every conformation class I enter him in even in different or all breed classes. He is very well "put together". Here is a picture of Frost in 2005 in his very first show. He won the Championship for stallions in Conformation. He also won the Bella Forma class.
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/119656frostamikrunchmpsm-med.jpg
Here's one more of Frost. In 2006 I showed in Dillsburg PA at the Northeast All breed Gaited Show. We had seperate classses for the PPR Pasos(notice we wore the white dress from PR). Frost was awarded PPR CHampion Pleasure Stallion, PPR Reserve Fino Stallion and also 1st place in PPR Open Bella Forma. This was his second time showing and the first time in an indoor arena and shown under saddle. Mind you this is a 12 year old breeding stallion so you can see how gentle and well behaved this horse is....
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/119656frostdills2006resz.jpg
This a a quality PPR stallion with lines in the pure state that are hard to find.......I know Carol Nelson thinks the world of Frost and a couple people on this board have his offspring and have spoken very highly of them. What do you think?..........

I just wanted to add that many of the good old PR lineage was imported to the USA years ago. I;m not sure if the breeders in PR are aware that there are a few people here in US still trying to hang on to these great old PR lines so they are not lost forever.
Maria Luisa was foaled in 1952 on the farm of Don Miguel Guevara near Isabella Puerto Rico. Her sire was El Huerlano a Palomino by Faraon. Maria Luisa's Dam was La Crema sired by Batalla who was a direct son of Dulce Sueno. Maria was known for her intelligence and willing disposition. She had the ability to produce strong gaited foals with her wonderful temperament. Captain Ira Meeth and family brought Maria to the USA in 1960 along with 4 other PR horses including the gorgeous palomino stallion Cori (Cori was purchased from George J. LaHood, Jr.). Cori and Maria were bred and this mare that was thought to be barren produced Sombre LaCE in 1961 and Corito in 1968 and Novita in 1969.
When bred to Triunfo(also an import from PR) Maria produced Frio Viento in 1970 and Camarad T in 1971. She also produced Patron de Omega when bred to Singer and Tia Maria de Omega from Cantante de Omega.
I beleive all her offspring were outstanding and were show quality. She was a very special lady and her bloodlines are treasured by those who own her offspring.....
Volare is also one of the PR lines imported to US years ago. He is present in many Pasos today and of course is the sire of Bolero LaCE.....I'm sure everyone knows his remarkable story.......
Just some interesting facts that many people may not know......the old PR lines exported from PR are still here in US alive and well in the pure state.

Frost is a beautiful boy - but then we wouldn't be prejudiced or anything since we have his niece!
Professional - the problem with registering Princesa with PFHA is that her parents were very very old when she was born and were not DNA'd or blood typed. We do have blood type on Kofresi which is 66.5 % of her heritage but we would have to locate a number of siblings who have been DNA'd to prove her pedigree and it's a lot of work to do so. Batallita del Coco is her half brother and El Coco had a number of offspring but the problem is with her mother, Primavera de Kofresi, who is El Coco's full sister. We have almost no information on her. But since Princesa is registered with a PFHA accepted Puerto Rican registry and has been DNA'd, all three of her foals were able to be registered with PFHA and have PFHA numbers themselves. Thank you so much for your kind offer. If we decide to try to get her PFHA registered we'll contact you for sure!
How do you keep the mane and tail such a beautiful white???

Dear Sporthorse, its a pleasure for me to share those pics believe me so, and there's more from where those came from!!! I also work with some other breeds from the miniature Flabella to the gigantic Percheron, you name it!
And ppr horses are so versatil for endurance as well.
I like your spanish writing better than mine I assure you. The Sad One or "El Triste" was because the owner's sadness at the time. Something related to a name he chose for the horse at the moment of pedigree inscription documents.
Sure thing Motorgypsy, and El Triste past away a few years ago; I don't know the cause of his death but I have good memories of him alive in my heart. For any white mane and tail I use a botlle of iodine 7% or more and apply it before any shampooing and any watering...just drying. scrub throughly, rinse away and repeat again if necesary. Then I use a shampoo made specifically for white tails. To keep it clean before the show I use a tail bag.

Dear PPRpaso3, I'm aware of the ppr bloo lines in US. I'll always do my homework... 8-) I even have pics of some of the horses you have mentioned. My respect toward you for your effort in preserving those old bloodlines. As you mentioned, some PR breeders lack interest in those lines but if time proves me right...they will be sorry.
I agree with you 100% about the Batalla's look on Frost, undeniable!
And I think that those pictures are awesome! In both pictures you look like you really enjoy your champs. They both have size, color conformation and of course "Finura" (fino). Have you ever thought about making a calendar with their pictures?...(mine should be free for giving you the idea).
So, Maria Luisa was born in my home town eh? That farm you mentioned is still owned by the relatives of Don Miguel Guevara. I see that you are very well informed on ppr history, I keep that in mind in case I need some data.

I forgot to mention about this comment...
A few months ago, I was chating with M. Lopez about this issue and unfourtunately puertorican breeders are so concentrated in the richful bloodlines that they have right now, that they forget or don't pay much atenttion to the old lines here in the mainland. But of course that's from my point of view. Thanks again PPRPaso3 and the others who are tryng to preserve the purest of the "RAZA"

Professional.........wow you have a lot of nice photos! It is great to see the old photos.....that Media Dio looks huge and I like his large bone. Seems like most of the PR horses now adays are smaller and more delicate in the legs.
Calendar of Frost pics.....hmmmmm might be a good idea. I have alot of nice pics of him and he is a beautiful subject.
I think most breeders are stuck in their niche of whatever they have and like. Everyone thinks their horses are the best....I guess it is just human nature. Just so happens I got lucky when I started in on this PR breeding....I had some other lines and breeds a few years back and one little PR mare won be over to the PR Paso. These horses just amaze me. I have never seen a breed with such a freindly willing temperament and smooth ride to beat! Never thought I would ever ride a stallion but Frost is so gentle he gave me the confidence to get on and do it! I am so glad I did...........
This one would make a nice calendar picture.......this is Frost at our place in FL at sunrise.

Probably so, but there are lots of big horses around here in PR and some are not probably because of the breeders' preference.
I think you already embrace the calendar idea! Its not so difficult giving that you have prime material to start with. Please take me serious when I say that this picture of Frost would look fine on a September calendar page!
I found it very soothing, relaxing as though it should be for a September calendar picture. Do you have one of Frost's cover with snow for the month of January? See, what I'm doing here is feeding you with ideas to do something I wish to do but I don't own a PPR beautiful horse such as yours. Think about it, you can do almost all at your fingertips these days. It could generate some extra income to pay Frost's bills.
And I insist, my copy is free...

Don't mind the rider... but these two mares were sisters, La Querubina was a state classic fino great champion and died of a respiratory disease a few years ago. Her sire was the famous ppr stallion Merengue and her dam was the famous Liz III. I will post a pic of her later on...
Also, Liz III's daughter is Isabelita whos' still grazing and happend to be a retired undisputed bellas formas conformations great champion mare. She also was a classic fino champ but not holding a "great" title like her sister. Her sire was one of the most acclaimed stallions of those times...The undisputed bellas formas conformation champion Papirus. I will also post some pics of him later.

Now, this picture here is a hard to find one. (not any more  ) Was taken back in the 60's. and there are 5 ppr horses including Liz (mother of Liz I, II and III) The 5 horses in the frontline were the ppr paso finos. The others were quarter horse, pintos, morgans, etc.
This picture is very important because it was the first time PPR horses step into US ground. The event was a exhibition of good will between PR and US. The scenery was The Madison Square Garden of New York.

I am really enjoying these old photos! I have never seen that one in the MAdison Square Gardens....nice historical photo! That one of Frio Viento(the really small one in the oval) you have named "Fino Viento". Anyway he is oneof the PR horses I know a little about only reason I caught that! I have another one of him maybe you haven;t seen. I got it from Barb Preiss...she found Frost for me knowing I loved his bloodlines.
Here's 2 other pics of Frio Viento......

I don;t have any snow pictures of Frost yet but with this snowy weather we are having I should try to get some. I just don;t leave him out in this bitter cold. He is in the barn with short turnout where it isn;t too icy. The other day when it was 27 I turned him out and of course didni;t have my camera...I could have gotten some good shots the way he was bucking and playing.
I have a couple more nice sunrise pics here's another one.....

So Mr. Professional...I see that Batallita is a Batalla daughter and he is in Bunny's pedigree three times over...does Batallita resemble her sire? Do you have any photos of Batalla???
I have Volare in two of my older Paso's pedigrees...I have always thought he was a beautiful horse...such a sad ending though.
Also about the light colored eyes...I've also heard that Faeton LaCE had hazel or amber colored eyes. I have a Faeton LaCE grandson, a gelding, who is 21 who also has the light colored eyes. It seems he looks right through you when he stares at you. Everyone remarks on his eyes.
Also what is the correct pronunciation of Faeton LaCE??? I hear it pronounced so many different ways.

Dear Pnalley, I saw Merengue's pedigree...very exquisite. But unfurtunatelly I think is someting rong with the Pinto/gelding info.
I'm not a historian but I know my stuff an is dificult to believe that dose horses have a pinto colored horse as Merengue claim to be.
Alaud me to refresh my hipotesis, Pinto was the name of Merengue's Sire not his coat color. And as the gelding thing I also dought it because if you continue chequing hes pedigree you would find some more offspring of Merengue by that time; at lease the one I know
pnalley
01-27-2007, 10:18 PM
I have no doubt that there is bad information in many of those pedigree's. The horse I knew was named Merengue, he was a bay tobiano. His owner also owned another Pinto stallion I believe it was his sire El Sano ( I think he was either a buckskin or lighter colored horse). I can not remember the owners name. I actually rode his son Lusitano Caje. I remember these horses from the very early 70's.
Possibly Sandy MM would know the owners name.
Edited to ad the sire was also Pinto.
When I was looking through pedigree's I found a mare named Merengue too. So I feel sure a good bit of those old pedigree's are not exactly right.

Carol, I didn't forget you... its just that I was looking on my photofiles for these pics and as you know, I have to upload them first at photobucket.com. Batallita also was a stallion. Batallita resembles his sire in a lot of things, his fenotype as well. About Volare... all I can say is that some pictures don't honor the horses at a particular time or place. Tell me how you see him through this pic. That light colored, brownish eye or hazel as you prefere; but don't call it amber because that would refere to a yellowish like color. Some people call it goat eyes, since its the same color. (I love horses with hazel eyes, my favorites) That's in case you hear someone calling it that way.
Now, let see how I can help you pronounce correctly Faeton LaCe's name.
It's a real challenge, because one has to write it instead of saying it.
Let's pronounce it in syllables...Fa, like fa-mily, e, like e-lephant , ton, as an Ton, La, as an La-ssie, Ce, as an ce-llular. (whew!)

Poco Pataan (Casa Blanca x Tar Baby (who herself was a top 10 mare in the US) was a multi-time National Champion in the US in the Speciality classes. On Pasoregistry there are only 3 registered offspring of his listed - 2 mares and a stallion. My daughter of his, Lucia de Caroline will be 31 this April, I will get a current picture of her and post it.

El Conde is in Puerto Rico and belongs to WIlfredo Torres. His phone number is 787-231-0085. You can transport a horse from PR to the USA via airplane or sea. The latter is much cheaper and is about three days to FL.
You'll have to contact the owner for the price, but the horse is about 7 years old and is a Champion Paso Fino and Bellas Formas.

Marabilla de Zafiro
This one you will love! The little angel is Eve Rodz. and she is a former champion on her category in equitation class.
About the mare, I would say that is Zafiro's de Cistal daugther, and the one I explain before that is a multiple champion in diference classes. Conformation, clasic fino and equitation class. Enjoy!

Thank you for the compliment! I do anything and everything I can with Marci - I was riding her bareback when she was starting her training, and used to get on her from either the back of my pickup truck or a picnic table!
She is the exact opposite of the 'foot stomping, fire breathing' Paso that so many non-Paso people think the breed is.
In that video, she had been ridden maybe a dozen times the WHOLE YEAR - the day of that demonstration I took her out of the pasture where she had been for a couple of months at least, trailered her about 2 hours then hopped on and rode!

the mare in front of the PR federation sign is Marina de Marivilla. Don't know the rider. Mare is a Turabo (granddaughter) I think.

The "infamous" Marina de Marivilla I might add! I was proud to be the rider in that photo, and proud to have the privlidge to work with such an awesome horse. Words can't describe this mare...and awesome is an understatement! She is a Turabo daughter and currently resides at Frosty Acres Paso Fino Farm.

Please correct post with picture labeled "El Conde de Montecristo"!!!!!
I took the photo and can tell you with 100 percent certainty that the horse in that picture is in fact "Ensueno Dorado" owned by Mr Gregorio Garcia,
the photo was taken at the 2005 Copa Bucanero in Arroyo, Puerto Rico.
Ensueno Dorado won bellas formas and fino classes at that event.
For a good picture of the beautiful horse,
"El Conde de Montecristo" see page 59 of the first issue of the magazine
"Paso Fino a Puerto Rican Breed" or contact Mr Rafael Arbelo.
The dark horse is also one of my pics. the name of that horse is
" Don Mora" a Plebeyo son, and the photo was taken in Manati Puerto Rico, at the Copa Candelaria 2006

I felt that this mare deserved a few words...
Few horses come around that can touch us so deeply that we forget that they are horses and we become one...one body, one mind, one unit working together. I have truly felt that with this mare.
Marina de Maravilla, fondly known as "Nookies" is awesome in the truest sense. As royalty pumps through her veins, you feel every hair on your body stand straight up with exileration and anticipation of her next manuver, whether it is fino or her famous "Airs above the ground." As the rider, you are required to pass HER test. I specifically recall a trail ride that we had just finished and we were on the way back home. She decided that it was time for a pop quiz. She went full speed backwards towds the electric fence. Knowing that this mare would never do anything to harm herself, I called her bluff. This sent her into a tornado! She spun like a top the distance of 2 football fields, spinning so fast that it was all i could do to keep centrifical force from ripping the saddle off. After we were both too dizzy to see straight and I was still on top, she decieded that I had passed and she pitter pattered down the lane like the queen of all queens.
Another time, we were going over a wooden bridge and I noticed that I could not hear her foot fall. We waited for other horses to pass and I took her across the bridge again. Three times later, I could NOT hear her feet hit the ground. I would have sworn that she was levitating. How could any horse step that soft? Truly amazing.
I could go on and on, but I do need to mention that this mare is 7/8ths puerto rican. While she demonstrates all of the qualities that I love about the puerto rican paso fino (soft, soft elegant step, full range of gait, beautiful confirmation, BRIO, beauty and extreme athleticism) she is not pure. I know that this is a whole debate in and of itself, but I just wanted to give a little bio on an awesome horse, not start WW3.
Check out the link below to find out how she got the nick name "Chinook" aka "nookies"

Dear Ferrum, now is me who has the privilege to welcome you here at this forum. And, I do it very enthusiastically because I know of your devotion and passion you have to the ppr's and all horses.
I already corrected the name of Ensueno Dorado, unfortunately for me all the pics that I have of both horses are under Code de Montecristo's name since they are so alike, So, if you or Rafael Arbelo have a pic of el Conde and willing to share it, we're going to apreciate it very much. Specially me, so I can correct my files. Also thanks for telling the name of Don Mora, I really liked that horse.
So you all know, I'm always "stealing" Jo-ann's pics and spreading them everywhere I can  ...We have some kind of agreement  ... just kidding, but the truth is that she is very talented, and you must spread that artistic gift as far as you can so anybody can reach it. Once again, thank you Jo-Ann and I'm glad to have you here.

So, Thank you Cristy once again for the info and thanks to Lisa for the explanation of that picture. Also I want to thank Mandy, the beautiful rider who rode that beautiful mare, for that poem-to-my-ears description of an event. Its like I was reading a story book, a good one let me add. Since Marina de Maravilla didn't threw you off, thats means you can easily qualify for a bronco event. Now I know why you said "Infamous" mare.
You know what? I want to point out to all of you that here in PR its rare to see a lady on board for a horse in a competition, just a very few of them. I once wrote an article in another forum asking to the female crowd why they don't participate in an open competition class with the male population...
What do you gals have to say on the subject?

Hello Carol, Payaso was Batalla's son and Tonita de Ramirez was the dam's name. The mare's name also included the owner's last name, as it saying..."from the herd of Mr. Ramirez" You know, some people use farm names and so on, just to add importance or prestige to the horse.
As far as I know Payaso's dam, has nothing to do with the Ramirez farm that you mentioned. A posible explanation could be that they share the same last name.
Ferrum, my pleasure...
