I just got this e-mail, under a rather blurry Yahoo logo:

This is to inform you that you have won a prize money of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND US DOLLARS ($100,000.00) for the YEAR 2007 Lottery promotion which is organized by YAHOO LOTTERY INC for the introduction of the new YAHOO BETA MAIL which all YAHOO users are required to switch onto.
YAHOO! & MICROSOFT WINDOWS, arrange and gather all the e-mail addresses of the people that are active online, among the millions that subscribed to Yahoo and Hotmail, and others we only select FIVE (5) candidates per annually as our winners through Electronic Balloting System (EBS) without the candidate applying, we congratulate you for being one of the people selected.

PAYMENT OF PRIZE AND CLAIM

We are sorry that your Payment Approval File was sent to LONDON UK, due to we have 2 lucky winners in UNITED KINGDOM so that you can be cleared and paid simultaneously there. You are to contact our LONDON Location Claim Agent on or before your date of Claim.

Sent your money to London and you have to claim it there. What a crock! They only select 5 candidates per annually as our winners...what? What the heck does that mean? Per annually?
They never give up, do they?

Well you know, I did hear back from Yahoo. Sadly, it was a scam :cry: How did I guess ;-) And they took legal action against the spammer, but of course can't tell me what.

They did tell me one thing interesting though, whenever you get something like this from any provider, you should be able to forward it to abuse@provider's name.com/net or whatever they use.

I saw on the news last night that Spammers are getting around your e-mail filters by sending their spam as a picture instead of text. That is why we are getting so many again. I guess the Federal Trade Commission has taken some of the worst offenders to court - and won every case (I guess judges don't like Spam either! LOL).
