Those of you with Jaranero daughters, what do you like most about them, what has been the most challenging and what would you do different?

I've looked up past posts on him and have seen alot of his sons (hubba hubba hubba) but all the daughters pics were red x'd out.

Hi Jenn -

I have a coming 4 year old daughter of Jaranero who was this year's Grand National Honorable Mention winner in the very tough Performance Mares and Fillies class. She was only a three year old when she accomplished that, and I love her to death.

She has an amazing amount of brio and is very competitive - I know that she got more brio from her father but her mother is also very, very competitive. Mercedes (my Jaranero daughter) loves the sounding board especially, and will turn to go across it every chance she gets. She has an amazing largo and I do consider her very, very beautiful.

The only thing that I would consider a flaw is that she has perhaps too much brio - but that is something that could calm down in time. Her mother was like her when she was three, but in her four year old year she learned how to control it a bit better and became the 2003 National Champion Performance Mare.

I have recommended breeding to Jaranero to everyone I can, simply because I am SO pleased with mine - I would breed to him again if I didn't have a "no breed back" rule. :) I feel that if I did so well the first time, why would I breed back again and increase my chances of disappointment that the second baby didn't turn out like the first?

Her conformation is beautiful, at least I think so, although her body type is more taken from her mother. She definitely got the star on her forehead from her handsome father, though.

Here are some pictures for you taken from the Nationals - the first is Riff Rodriguez, who trained her for most of the year, and he showed her in the 3 year old class (she was also this year's High Point Performance Filly) and the second picture is me showing her in the Performance Mares Champ. Riff and I kinda tag teamed training her, since she belongs to my parents and they really wanted me to show her this year....Riff also had another filly in the Performance Champ, he won the 4 year old Performance Fillies class with a Capitan daughter and he won Fourth Grand National Champ Performance Mare with her too. So we coudn't be happier with either of the two girls.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

LOL, she may want to after reading your signature about the treats....

She can definitely count, and she can hear the bag from across the farm...that's when she starts counting, lol!

Here's some more pictures...well, one picture of her in April of last year before she started really muscling up, and then the other pictures are of her mother and her mother and little sister, Salome (daughter of Amadeus de Resorte Cuarto). Salome is ready to start this spring....we're so excited!!!!

Congratulations on doing so well in the show ring last year. I saw you ride at Nationals and then again on RFDTV the other day when they had the Performance Champ class on; you were in a really "tough" class and did great! You and Mercedes really stand out and she is very beautiful as well as her Dam.

Look forward to seeing you in the show ring this year.

Beautiful! Don't be sorry for sharing the pictures! We love to see them. That black colt is really something. He has 'it'.

I have two Jaranero daughters, and one grandson.

One Jaranero daughter is very easy to deal with on the ground, but is not consistent enough under saddle to show. If she could keep it together, she would be very competitive in performance classes. She is the dam of a yearling Mandato colt that I am very pleased with. The colt is very sensible to handle and already shows excellent quickness and willingness to work.

I have a Jaranero/Bochica cross coming 3 year old filly who is a dream to ride. She is gentle, but with brio. She will be a competitive horse that anyone will be able to ride. She has only been under saddle for a few months, so we do not yet know in which division she will compete. We can tell, however, that wherever she lands, she'll be good at it. She has a still croup and very quick, animated gait, combined with a willing and non-spooky disposition.

Personally, I love the action that Jaranero has and imparts to his offspring. I'm no expert by any means, but I have noticed a very balanced front/back action, with solid hocks and very little croup movement. I also like the pretty heads, small ears, and quickness he seems to be imparting to his offspring. It seems that these horses especially do not appreciate being pushed, and that it is important to let them develop into their training without demanding too much too soon...they will push back if asked too much too soon. Trainers out there, have you noticed similarities with the Jaranero offspring you've dealt with so far?

Robert and Darlene Long have a Jaranero daughter, Manantial de la Postal, who will be showing in 4 year old fino fillies this year. I have an old clip of her on our website. The footage was taken very early in her training, when she was just barely under saddle. She was/is amazing to watch, and is hot as a firecracker. Pat Figueroa has done an amazing job of working with this filly, and I can't wait to see her in action in 2007. Her video is at the bottom of the links page on my website, if interested:
