:D I had lost this message board when my computer hard drive died. But luckily someone from Equifriends gave me the link here.
I still don't have a paso, and still am riding along on a bumpy arab. But I recently started a diet on Weight Watchers so I can regain some of my ability to ride. And I have made it my goal that when it all comes off I will find the gaited horse of my dreams. I still haven't ridden a paso, but I am so heavy right now I would be afraid to even try one out. My arab mare does pretty good under me but then she is a larger bodied arab. But she is getting older, 21 this spring-withno signsof slowing down.
Hey maybe at my 1/2 way mark I could do that try out a paso? :D
I have at least narrowed down the breeds I want to try as...Paso Fino, Foxtrotter, mountian pleasure horse, & Icelandic.
I have a bit of time as I think it will take me at least a year to get to a good weight, but with a goal like that how can I not succeed? ;-)

Well welcome back and good luck in the weight thing.I have given up ever being 135 (or 22 ;-) ) again..I just wish the numbers would go back down a little! There is a private forum on here called Pound Busters you should join in on (have to email admin for the password I guess)

Keep riding that Arab. If you can post tot the trot till you feel like your legs will fall off you will loose weight

I keep threatening to ride my App mare for the very same reason.

If you ever do ride a good gaited horse you will not want to go back to a trot, but at least you have a good excuse. You can always say it's time to retire your Arab. ;-)

Hey, GLAD TO HAVE YOU!!!

And they are right about the trotting horse thing. Everybody should have one "trotter" in the barn for those days you just need a work out. Every now and then I hop on the token quarter horse just to get my muscles working and make sure I still know how. And I bet that Arab had lots of good years left in her. And when you are ready, I am sure someone on the board near you can provide that test ride and get you started on your Paso search.

Oh and Sheri, whadda mean you've given up on being 22. I've been 22 for 25 years! I think it is a record.

Welcome and good luck to you! I think a paso for meeting your goal is an awesome incentive!!

Thank You for the warm welcome. yep posting is hard work. I also have a fried knee so sometimes postings not so easy. :-?
Yeah I thought a gaited horse would be a VERY GOOD incentive. Oh and as for small goals, every 20 lbs I get to buy something for myself. First one (only 6 more lbs to get there) is a nice leather coat I saw at the leather store-it almost fit. Its the 20 dollar leather store so if I wear it in the rain-so what its cheap. LOL ;-)
Have you ever seen one of those? Everything in it is 20 bucks or less. They have coats, purses, luggage, computer cases...etc. Great place to shop. Wish I would have remembered it at Christmas time-oh well next Christmas I will. I need new luggage too, and a new purse. They had nice big fanny packs that would be great for riding. Boy, you could go nuts in a store like that.

Welcome! You will lose the weight if you really want to, just have to be patient with yourself! And yes, great incentives to keep you going!

If you let everyone know about where you live - we may be able to hook you up for a ride ;-)
As for losing weight - steady is the best way - or it ALL comes back ! :-(
I know from experience !
A Paso Fino would be the best reward - and a lot can carry a lot more weight than people realize . I know mine could handlle my hubby's weight - but I ALSO know if I let him ride my boy - I would never get him back LOL Sometimes ya gotta be selfish - snicker !
