Astaciana de Alrena* did her first hunter pace in at a good clip and got us a gold ribbon(third place) This  photo is after the ride. Our team consisted of Pocita (Lindsay up)and "Stacy"*(with me up).We did 20 miles with a 20 minute break (supposed to be 10 minute break at 10 miles) but the mares were hungry and thirsty and being Stacy's first distance ride first ride we took the break for thier sake. She moved along great and came in with a great pulse rate(not required at hunter paces but we monitored so when she is ready we can do endurance)We did the ride in 2hours and a half or so( I think) about 15 miutes off the pace/when they post officially http://www.southcreekfoxhounds.net/hunter-pace.htm I will look up.But the main thing is her nice long stride made travel easy and graceful for a strong completion.
We are happy and proud and I look forward to seeing how she will do on and LD endurance ride.

Look'n good Ed! She is really pretty but then so is Obi! Your hunter pace rides are long. Ours are only 6 to 8 miles with hunter pace being 1.5 hours and hilltopper about 2 hours.

ok "cavalry pace"is a long endurance training type hunter pace ,yes they have the other ten milers or eight miler coming up soon and the cavalry pace will be 16 miles next time I think.

Nice looking horse, congrats.
I agree with motorgypsy. We have done a few hunter paces up here with a team of 4 paso finos and have done great. But ours are more like 10-15 miles I would say.
Even my fino boy loves them and does really well, so I think any paso could do it with the correct mental attitude and conditioning.
