I played hookie this morning and went riding with Cheryl (and Perfecto!) and a new friend, Jeanne (and her nice black QH, Kip).

It was 63 degrees and sunny, but our grass won't be green for quite some time ;-)

This horse-camp is about 15 minutes from my place so it's very handy to load up and go.

After going through this rocky area, I heard Jeanne say, "I do believe your Pasos are more sure-footed than my horse"

Beautiful pictures! Looks like a wonderful day to ride, very picturesque landscape, but you wouldn't get me down that incline on a horse. I am a "flatlander"....Can't stand mountains....

Dana, our weather is crazy in winter. This weekend it's supposed to get down to 28 on Saturday! A couple weeks ago, it was 59 on Thursday, then a HIGH of 9 on Friday. We can pretty much ride all winter though, because days like this are very common all winter.

I forgot to say, our group is hosting a sanctioned endurance ride this summer (july 28-29) There will be a 25-miler and a 50-miler. Some of it will go through the area in the pictures AND the Centennial Trail, which is 90% woods and is gorgeous. Here is a view from the Cenntennial Trail:

I think I'm going to try the 25-mile with Listo. I do hope some of you can join us! There is a horse-camp and lots of beautiful scenery!

Helene, how can you be a flatlander? You live in Colorado

Beautiful Debbie...those just about break my heart. Most winters we can ride all winter too. Not this winter, at least so-far. I'm willing to let Nature get back to normal! LOL

Moniece, the eastern half of Colorado is the plains. If you look at a map of Colorado, see where Denver is? Denver is on the eastern side of the Rockies and it's flat from there to ...........................??......Pennsylvania?? (this does depend on your definition of flat).

Yes, I'm living on the "Front Range", at the foothills of the Rockies, here in Colorado. I have mountains surrounding our place on three sides (about 30-40 miles away), but it is on mostly flat land, the high desert. I'm trying to stay away from the mountains. Once in a while my friends "drag" me off into the mountains for a ride, but I always ask whether we are riding near a cliff. We've been on a few rides in mountain valleys (no cliffs) and that is beautiful. I get off my horse when we get to a trail that looks too steep or too rocky for me.
Beautiful scenery like on these photos here, I can enjoy on my computer thanks to the people on this BB and Lori.
I really want to move ....
