This is the beach we wanted to get to..Look at the area behind me when I am standing on the beach..Vence got stuck in the sand getting on the sandbar and sunk past his belly..when my feet hit the ground I got off and got away from him..he got himself on the beach and just went 5 feet and waited for me, even though the two mares were only 20 feet away..He was very calm and no panic. He got to the shore and stood looking at me like you idiot...

This is me getting ready to head to the beach we wanted to go to..Notice it is not good when your reins are down near the horses ears!

Isn't that scary? We used to have that happen all the time when we rode in the Bayou LaTerre...quicksand! Glad no one got hurt.

It was toss up, the picture of Misty playing in the water, or Vence helping ya'll eat lunch. I think you two girls were a little stingy with those chips! Apparently Vence thought so too!.
Glad neither of you got hurt...scary.

Yeah, Yeah.
I thought I was going to read a really good story about how you were dumped.
What I read is you voluntarily dismounted and your STALLION waited on you instead of visiting the ladies.
Glad you both are OK!

Yeah I asked Carol if that counted as being thrown before I posted...It would make #3 in 27 yrs of riding....she said NO that does not count as being trown even though I was hanging on him as I was trying to get away from him so the count is still #2 times thrown in 27 yrs...sorry Pnally...I was so so proud of him...everyone on the beach had their mouth open holding the mares when he got to the sandbar and got only 5 foot and turned facing me...almost wanted to cry...lol

2 in 27 years???
Show off! Bragger! (If the MODS wouldn't smite me I'd call you worse!)If I didn't love the fact that you have Apps & Paso's (like myself) I would HATE you!
I will comfort myself by saying I have fallin, been dumped, had a parting of the ways more then you because 1) I have been riding longer (38 years).
And I will say I rode more horses with less training. Please HUMOR me
No kidding! A parting of ways is awesome when your horse handles it like Vence did. Not bad for a trail nag.
How's Rodger???

lol Roger is fine...Going to pull him out this summer and may show him..too nice of a horse to waste..he Has man Roms and a superior (?)and two top 10 in the nations...I NEED to get him back out...probably wont
You will like this the first time I was thrown learned me alot lol..I jumped on my old app mare Brandy..no halter no saddle and whipped out a metal tape measure...I pulled it out 6 feet or so (the metal type) and tossed it over her neck to her nose and pulled back like it was reins...tape measure went twang and that is about all I remember...
Second was a beautiful gray QH mare that was to die for..Asked her to lope she said no asked nicely again she said no..I hooked my spur in her rib and she set to bucking every buck I held on more with my spur until last buck I looked down and there was NO saddle to come back to. I think that was 5 or 6 yrs ago...She got a new zip code and will set to bucking to this day.
I have (knock on wood) never come off a paso unless it was MY idea and this was the only emergency time..usually get off just to see if they hurt themselves etc...
Funny the stuff we remember..

Nice Save!!! As usual, nice pics.
I wanna come ride with you! Or you come up and ride with me! I think we are compatable. LOL
Thrown only TWICE!!! Hmmm. let's see...rode since I was an embryo and am (oh never mind) let's just say old, rode LOTS of unbroke stuff. I have no idea how many times I kissed the ground. Lots less as I get older, but then, I don't ride the stuff I used to either.

I love the picture of the girl riding the mare.
she is pretty.
how is she working out for you?
Vence knows you are his master.
and looked to you for the OK.
Nice work.
you never cease to amaze me, wish you were closer I would have to trail train my horses.

What a good boy! I love the lunch picture too. When we ride, our horses always share our lunches with us. Listo WILL NOT settle for a carrot when there's homemade banana bread in the pack (or sourcream and onion potato chips, PB&J, or granola bars....)
Thanks for sharing your ride with us!

When I see photo's like that Shelly, I know we sold our Stallion to the right family!! The one of "Lunch time" and Vence running through the water makes my heart smile!! What a great home he has there and all the fun you all provide for him. Keep the photos coming!
Ronnie
