EXCITING FIRST EVER FEATURE-LENGTH MOTION PICTURE TO STAR A PASO FINO:
As many of you already know from the Nationals last year, a group has been formed to produce a motion picture starring a Paso Fino! Currently, this group has secured an award-winning director and are in the process of giving this exciting script its final rewrite before production begins this summer. This film will be distributed throughout the US and Canada sometime in 2008. To date, they have several needs: shooting locations, i.e. premiere Paso Fino horse farms willing to allow a film crew and their cast to film this feature, several Paso Fino horses to be used throughout the filming of this entire movie, along with trainers and qualified riders to work and star as extras in this production.
The budget for this film is scheduled to be packaged in the next 30 to 45 days and the producers need an additional $150,000 to put all this together. If you are interested in investing in this project, please call (618) 667-9909 or one of the producers: Shannon Knox or Michael Mazzella at (832) 607-3884.Thank for your interest and much needed assistance in this amazing opportunity for the entire Paso Fino breed!

Well maybe its the first "full length" film...but there is after all the Walt Disney feature "Cristobalito".... The Calypso Colt.

Too cool though....tell us more...what is the story line...do they need the mountains of Colorado...or will it be a flat-land film?

I will surely BUY one.....when ready! :D

I just talked to Shannon! He is very excited for everyones input.

I offered him the use of our ranch if needed, and told him I could get him into the farms in Miami. I think we will be seeing a lot of him at the Paso functions this coming year. 8-)

He gave me some extra contact info.

The main concern at this time is the funds.....so we need some creative ideas on how to make this happen.

No hint of story-line?
I ask because I want to know if it is purely FINO or ????

I dont' think the script has been finalized yet, so they are not giving out too many details....but I DID mention the biggest critics would be the trail folks, and that it would be wise to include ya.

They sure shouldn't have any shortage of places to film, or horses to use IN the film.
Can't wait to see what this will be about.

How cool!

You know, they are always welcome in South Dakota (although they'll have to bring lots of Pasos) ;-)

O.K....lets brainstorm it!

Lets have the horse be the survivor of a shipwreck who swims to the shores of Florida....NO, wait...that line has been done!

Lets have the horse escape as a foal from the former largest Paso farm in the USA...that way, it would be filming in the mountains of Montana with gorgeous scenery!! Well, no wait.... thats been done

O.k....how about... The horse goes down in a plane crash heading from Colombia to California...crash lands in the mountains of Colorado :D ...and is the sole survivor.... then a rancher finds the colt and raises it and has NO IDEA of what kind of horse it is... until he takes it one day to the Denver Stock show...where he runs into some Paso folks, sells the colt to them, they take it to the Gold Cup in Las Vegas...and ..uh..O.k...so my story needs a Leeeeettttle more work....

C'mon folks..lets hear some ideas worth financial support! AND..NO human love story intertwined in it either...lets make it about the HORSE... and not humans for once! More like the original Flicka movie... or maybe Black Stallion?????? or...Thunder Head, Son of Flicka...now your talkin' :D
Or National Velvet.... a no-name come from behind, bonafide winner of a horse!

I don't know...why not have it be a story about a world famous dressage rider that gets in a horrible accident and is too much pain to ride a regular horse...and then gets a beautiful Paso Fino as a therapy horse?? and is able to ride again! :D

HEY..you are ONTO something there...great idea...but no terrible wreck like Horse Whisperer O.K.???

CarolU

Noooo, not a horse wreck. A car wreck. I can't handle horses in pain...period.

Come one we've got to have SOME fino horses!
Or the movie won't appeal to over half the paso community.

I WANNA BE AN EXTRA!!! :crazy bannana

You're not a fino horse!! ;-)

Of course it will have Fino horses...just not ALL Fino horses!! LOL I think a nice Smooooooooooooooooth Pleasure horse as the star!

OK OK How about we bargain and have as the STAR of the movie, a fino horse THAT can double as an awesome pleasure horse outside the ring? :yay

That is what I said...but the guy said....You wouldn't take a race horse out on the trail...and I said...but you CAN take your fino horse.

But seriously...they will need at least 5 horses to play the lead horse, and I don't see how they can portray a fino monster w/five horses. Let's face it, most fino monsters have distinct styles of executing the gait. BUT, I could see them finding 5 Pleasure show horses of similar execution.

True, unless they can fix the minor differences in the fino horses on computer ? :new confused
What COLOR horse are they looking for? Do they know yet?

Here I am, ready to get my throat slit.............BUT I'm gonna say it anyways. If they want this movie to appeal to the general public, they will NOT make it about a fino show horse. Let's face it, fino classes can be somewhat boring, especially to a person not familiar with the breed.

I say, they should make the movie about a lovely Paso gelding that is used in a therapeutic riding program, like the one that Lori wrote about in Show Time.

I don't think they are anywhere near that point. But my guess would be black, bay, grey or chestnut. Those would be the easiest to match.

Barb, I think that is a great idea, but I personally think that fire in the fino horses will make a flashier more exciting movie....every breed of horse can become a therapeutic horse, but NO other breed on earth can fino. JMO

I don't know...I think Performance horses have more fire the Fino horses. JMO, but I love the Largo in the Performance Championship!

How about a fino horse that after it retires becomes a therapeutic horse.

Carol did you ever see Piloto de Resorte Cuarto? I bet you LOVED him. He wasn't Performance, but he had such flamboyant front leg action.

Hey, there is a cute little Paso they use in the therapeutic riding program around here. Her name is Ivy and she is a sweety. Could we make her into a movie star?

I'm thinking....the star human....should be a youth... JMHO

It's supposed to be a love story involving Paso Fino people.

JMHO but Lori I think that is a BRILLIANT idea... ;-)

They should pick a blonde girl in her late teens, so I can play her stunt double and riding action. :rofl

Love story. They should do a story about what happend to me. That would be a great movie.

How about an olympic barn with a handsome hopeful riding his prissy cross country horse but always watching that cute woman with the funny walking pony. He's out on the cross country course and his horse takes off into the wilds. Big search commences with all these hoity toity riders and lonely woman on paso goes through miles of woods with tons of obstacles (creeks, rocks, cliffs, quicksand, burglars, whatever). Finds said man and prissy horse has fallen over some stupid jump and broken it's leg and the man's leg. She takes out her handy pistol and puts the prissy horse out of its misery and helps the man onto her willing paso. Despite his pain, he get the paso fino grin ;-) Pan to the man and woman at a big show, but it's a paso show and he is riding a magnificent stallion and takes first place as she stands on the rail and cries!

Let me know when you want to send the royalty check.

:yay Hay I think you might just be on to something! I can "see" taking parts from all the suggestions made so far and see what transpires? Maybe change the part about the broken horse etc. Maybe change that to having the "prissy" horse run off only to be found later, mixed in with a herd of Pasos in probably Montana or? And also keeping the part about being rescued by the gal and her Paso providing a way for the injured guy to be saved. I can "see" that "Paso Smile" already!

How about a story of someone down on their luck who is brought in to help work with the paso finos and falls in love with them and the paso fino showing (which would incorporate the fino) and trail riding and how she meets different friends from around the world and finds her new love.
