There have already been over 20 tornado warnings, and part of Florida is still under a watch. There are fatalities and injuries, so people will need prayers. A lady was injured in the Anthony area. There's damage in the Summerfield area. Both areas have paso farms. I don't know if they received damage. One warning was near me, but we're okay for now. Most of the storms are to the south, but I just heard an area mentioned north of us.

I'm mostly hearing about the area near your mom. There is extensive damage in that location! Thanks for posting! I had forgotten about your mom until I saw your name as a respondent. I was going to call Barb a bit later as I was concerned about her being near the area hit. I still have some loved ones to contact to tell of our safety.

Darn, my one horse is down at a farm in Summerfield. We have not heard anything from the farm. We are to pick her up tomorrow. I hope she is fine. Would hate to go down and something would be wrong. Going to hold breath till we get her in AM

I'd rather have a hurricane ANYDAY! At least you know they are coming and you can get prepared! These boogers just blind side ya!
Everyone in the central /east coast area is fine. Sebring, Okeechobee...Ft. Drum...etc. We had rain all day, but the worst parts of the storms were north of us! Sure spoiled our trailride for the day though.
There have been 14 confirmed deaths as far as I have heard. Mostly in the Lake County area. Terrible destruction! Pray for those who lost their homes and loved ones.

Growing up in Midwestern Nebraska...we learned to fear, dread and watch diligently for tornados. I remember times as a child spending whole nights in the basement. (So if you think global warming is causing this, I can assure you that when I was a child, 40 to 50 some years ago...it was just as bad or worse).
I was in my late teens when caught in my first tornado, or actually I believe it was a wall cloud, in a car on a main highway between towns. All I remember was a huge cloud coming toward us rolling on the ground and the car being engulfed in it...and at one point it felt like all four wheels were leaving the ground.
It was perhaps the most terrifying experience of my life. It was unnerving coming into the outskirts of the town and finding police cars with lights flashing and knowing they had closed the highway on that side.
Yes, tornados are perhaps the most dangerous of natural disasters because like you said, Pasomom...the others you can pretty much prepare for because you have some warning that they are coming but those catch you dead center.

I know they were interviewing Volusia County police and mentioned Deland traffic blocked on Woodlawn Blvd - anybody in the area know if Stetson U. had any damage?

I just saw the TV footage on the news last night. They said a 30 mile path of destruction went through.
Prayers to those in the path.

People still have not recovered from the 4 tornados, that hit Florida on Christmas day! Officials are trying to link those with these to get all the victims some assistance.
I hate tornados and remember them as a child, too! With technology today, there was more warning, than we had as a child. The problem this time was that the storm was moving so fast across the state; there was not much time to take cover after they showed on radar.
At least, one station kept radar onscreen all night, giving alerts when one was sited or formed. Some people attributed this to saving their lives. They were warning dring evening, if not daytime news of our most severe weather coming during the night. There was a watch on the night news. It kept getting extended.

Monty, I hope your cousins are okay. I saw the pics of the village on tv. It looked very bad.
I am terrified of tornados. I was in one as a child...and still remember it like it just happened yesterday. You never get over something like that. I used to have panic attacks every time they would show those watches/warnings on tv. As I have grown older, they are not as bad.. but it never compelety goes away.
