In my recent trip to PR I found this beautiful colt (about 2/3 Col and 1/3 PR). He is only 8 - 9 mo old and his owner, Doña Carmen Barreras was talking about not been able to keep him due to some unexpected financial situation. I just think he is gorgeous!!!

Interesting color. I love the tail. I'd like to see him after he's shedded out. 8-)

What is his breeding? Does he go back to Promesa? Tonita looks the same as she did 20 years ago except for the gray hair. 8-)

So, Rafael...when are bringing him home?? ;-)
I have to agree..can't believe the mane and tail on such a youngster..he's going to be pretty. Nice head carriage already. Love the rings around his ears!

Interesting color. I love the tail. I'd like to see him after he's shedded out.
That's almost identical to the 'baby coat' color of Corito's Viento de Vez (Corito de Vez x Candida AMO), Cheryl Watson's 5 year PPR stallion here in the U.S. If the young colt's gait and looks are even half as nice as Cori's, somebody will get a nice colt.

First of all folks, I am not bringing him home ... I wish I could!! ... And yes his bloodline goes back to Promesa de Cupido which is where he gets that color ... I am pesonally not crazy about that color, but this one caught my eye and I have to admit I like him a lot and I wouldn't mind to have him in my backyard !!!

Well, I reiterate. We need more information--like bloodlines and who to contact for more information.

Carmen Barreras home phone number is 787-714-6201. She has all the information about this exciting colt. She told me his bloodlines, but of course I forgot ... (I talked to her and she would not mind you calling her to ask any questions)
BTW she is fully bilingual .... Hablamos Español y también Inglés 8-)

Would he be considered a buckskin pinto because of the white on him on his neck under his mane? He sure is cute whatever he is! I love his coloring.

Does he have a white marking on his wither?
Looks more like "frosting" .... very typical on some buckskins....frosted manes & tails....

Yes under that cute frosted mane there is a white spot.
But does one white spot mean Pinto?

I don't know much about colors as some people in this forum ... but I can tell you that the white hairs are in his mane as well as in his tail ...

If it's out of Carmen's mares no pinto there. I'm sure of that.
Rafael, do you know if the colt is out of one of her mares?

Looks like frosting...not a white spot...
It would be extremely rare to have a white spot there with no white socks (minmal toby)
What is the verdict Rafael? Is that a white spot with pink skin or just mane frosting emiting from the mane line on the neck?

I'm trying to understand the coloring.
If they have a frosted mane and a white spot on the horse under that frosted mane, it's just a extension of the coloring from that frosted mane?

Nope..it would be a "genuine" white marking if there is pink skin there....
The manes of buckskins often get a lot of frost...it can make it look like it needs a white marking to be there..but it doesn't.
If that is a white marking..it would be very rare to have that there....one for the color books for sure!
I suspect it just looks lighter because the mane falls to that side and shelters the hair of the neck and keeps it from the sunlight....
As a side note....some people don't like frosted buckskins....they want ONLY black & golden.... but I sure do like the frosted ones!
Hey PasoVicki.... got a pic of frosty Mila mane?

Guess I'm one of the ones who doesn't care. I like the contrast.
I see what you mean if it's a trick of the light.
Would be neat to see a pic of the mane pulled up.
I think his coloring is so striking. I would think an eye catcher in the show ring, but eh, what do I know LOL

In my opinion when I was there taking the pictures it looked more like frosting ... I can say for sure there was no pink skin that I could see ... but again I said it before and I'll say it again; I am no expert in colors ... but I sure like this one because he is so rare !!
