I was just watching "The Horse Show" on RFD-TV where they did a segment on horse soccer. At one point they are interveiwing a 72 yr old woman who loves to play the sport. She had shown horses for 30? years.
When asked which breed makes the best soccer horse, she replied, " The Paso Fino, if you want speed". The surprise in the interveiwer's voice was obvious, lol.

During footage when they show people playing soccer, look for the little sorrel floating around the ring.....

There's another showing 2/27 at 9 a.m. (eastern)

Renee Miller the developer of Horse Soccer owns Paso Finos. I thought I had it on DVR last night but just checked and it didn't record :( I know most of the people that play in the video and they own Pasos (most ones I trained over the years). They can move quicker and turn faster than the QH and Renees husband plays on a draft so you know he is slow! If you come to the Springfield, MO show Friday night you'll get to see a soccer game or bring a horse and play!

Since I didn't see the RFDTV spot I can only guess that the 72 year old woman was Sally Dwyer, she runs a boarding facility and she use to show. If you watch the short video on her website http://horsesoccer.com you will see almost all Pasos. The white(gray) in Cervante de Ventura(Chuckie) NC Futurity Pleasure gelding, 3rd NC Pleasure 4 yr gelding, RC Country Pleasure, The bay is Navegante del Pina (Crash) NC Futurity Performance gelding, 3rd NC Pleasure 4 yr gelding, The chestnut Jazmin de Calidad two time 3rd NC A/O Performance mare, the black going gray is a Paso don't know her name. The smutty buckskin and the palomino pony are the only non Pasos. This was at the beginning of development of the game. They now have games almost every week with all breeds playing but the Pasos still are the best. They can turn and go quicker than the larger horses.

I saw that episode a couple times and thought it looked like fun. Yes, Rick Lamb was a little surprised that a 'gaited horse' would be that good at soccer. I was thinking I'd like to play - I could finally put my arena to good use. It grows grass in summer :-?
