Time for coggins to be done today and I was the last stop and she was running late.
After we said our hellows she said that she was hoping I would have everyone haltered and tied, ready to go.
I said it should not be a problem and walked to the gate with a halter, everyone came running. I'd hold up the halter and a head would be in it within seconds.
She could not beleive to see the entire heard so eager. One or two maybe but to see horses fight to get to be next is unheard of.

Now _that_ would be fun to see on a video... can you do a 'do over' for the camera and post it? :D

Ponies that know they are loved, fed and not hurt.
Good for you!! Doesn't it make you smile? :D

People that come here are amazed that the horses come when you call them by name and just a friendly "Come here!" and if they mosey...a "Hurry Up" will get them a putt-puttin' along. :D
Each one of our horses knows their own name before they are very old.

Yep, I call it the "layin on of the hands"

If you touch them every day, give a scratch now & then, very little actually. The horses will respond.

Last summer my friend that has loads of pasture let me take my 4 geldings to her place fpr the summer.

She was amazed at how "people friendly" my horses are. If you go to the fence they come up for attention. If you go to scrub water troughs they like to drip the fresh water down your back. You can go out and holler their names and they whinny back and come to see you. If you want a horse, they want to be your horse.

My friends Missouri Fox Trotter, who has been anti-social since she bought him (5 years ago) was following the lead of my critters. He was coming up, begging for attention and ACCEPTING attention.

She and her husband were amazed at his response. This fall when the grass died back we brought our boys home. The change in her horse is remarkable. He no longer looks for attention, and is in fact anti social again

I wonder how many times the vet will be telling that story! That little display could end up being some great and well deserved PR for you and Pasos , Boyd.

Nice job.

Thats cool!
dont you love it.
I remember when Kim came to check the place out, and we walked all around the propoerty,
the ponies followed us every place, they always follow me like a dog.
but Kim and Abbie thought it was soooo cute.

Boyd I guess you're feeding them enough hay!

I think it is lack of hay that has them fighting over the halters. A week ago if you picked up a halter they ran. Thanks to my boarder. Otherwise they would be in youre pockets. Now they see a halter their first thought is dinner time.
Maggie, which I had running to the halter within a couple of days of getting her is still being pain. She will self lounge herself, do basically anything she can not to do as asked. She will run to the stall and peek back out to see if I am coming. She has no problem with being haltered out of sight of the other horses. But refuses to come to me in the open pasture to be haltered.
I am not sure but may have to do with Her momma getting the trainer out and doing the war bonnett thing. I am not positive but I don't think she has been able to catch Maggie since. I do know that theyre relationship has made a major change. The last two weeks Eileen has came out and left without even saying hello. Which is odd because she will spend more time with us chatting than with Maggie.
So I guess it is up to me to do some more free training, If not for the two of them. It will make my job easier when I need the correct response.
I do know one thing Ms. Mags will be put in a pasture by herself on weekends so I don't have to rework my own horses.

That's great Boyd. Unfortunately mine all know the vet and would go the OTHER way if not already caught and tied when he shows up! LOL

my sister found out how easy it is to have pasos go in the barn. She videoed it... she had never been alone with a horse before this....
