Tami has put forth a really good idea..IMO. I too, would love to see a yearly "breeder's production" fall sale of not only Paso Finos, but any breed of gaited horse as well. How many breeders here would support such an effort?

In the QH "world".. there are production sales all the time. Fall sales give you all spring & summer to sell your horses, with the additional outlet of a sale in the fall.

I'm wondering what it would take, to get the support of other gaited breed organizations, to put on such a sale, hopefully complete with catalog...and in a place that would be a good location...Where, I'm not sure...I'm just sure that the west would be one of the worst places... perhaps in Georgia or ? Your thoughts?

While i realize a horse may have a better chance of getting sold at one of these, I like to have a more personal and longer relationship with a buyer. I prefer an open house idea better, and that is stretching it for me. jmho.

Actually I think I might well participate in something like this. All of the breeds have "sales" at their annual shows so why not a "gaited" production sale somewhere in the mid-west. Not sure how far I can travel due to hubby's health but if I can make it I will and bring some variety to the mix in the form of a couple MFTs or a racking horse or two.

Well (ancient history time again) years ago the Glatfelter's kinda did this at their farm They would would have an open house (spring I think) and would have some priced sale horses , and many times would auction off youngsters..yearlings mainly I think..Now they were pretty much the only ones around the area in pasos at the time, so there was a pretty good chance the horse would come back into the farm for training at a later date ($$$$) . I think it is feasible. It would also give people who hit some unexpected hard times a way to sell horses (even though it may be at a loss) to people who know what they are coming to the sale for..instead of people at any old horse auction (legit auction..not 'killer ' auction like one around here has a rep for) saying paso whatta???
