Ray Charles lived here in Greenville in what was known as the Jellyroll portion of the community. The county commissioners and historical society are working to restore his old homeplace and make it a museum. I think it is a nice tribuite to an excellent entertainer who loved what he did. I for one enjoyed his music accomplishments, he was a great entertainer especially with his handicap.

Yep. You're right there Bob. He is a classic! The one and only! I wasn't aware he was from Greenville! Cool that the community is doing that!

The city parks dept is already building the base for the statue. They have been working on it all week. It will be located near the lake in the park at the Southwest corner of the park. I think they are bringing in the statue in about a week so they can get it in place. I know the town folks are all excited about it.
