Wanted to say HI, relatively new to the whole forum concept....Don't have much time to spend on the computer but am now facinated. I have had Pasos for about 15 years now, breeding on a small scale, one or 2 babies a year. Summer before last we decided to go all in and start breeding on a larger scale. I now have my own stallion, 14 broodmares, 2 geldings and 7 babies (born this year, for sale) We went from having 6 -10 horses to having 24... I am doing okay figuring things out on my own but any advise from larger scale breeders ( on like weaning, mass worming, any thoughts on pasture breeding, positive or negative, ect...) would be greatly appriciated. As of right now we are on a 96 acre farm divided into one big pasture, 2 small pastures and 3 small areas near the barn. and a stallion pen with a run in on the back of the barn. Thanks...Cristy :D

Welcome to the forum Cristy! I'm sure you will get lots of good advice here. Paso Mom and I only have 4 horses at this time, so we don't have too big of an operation...but we'd like one someday. 8-)

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your time on this forum - lots of great information and support!

I didn't find Bandelero del Mistico on the Paso registry site - is he fairly young? What are his bloodlines? Do you breed for show/pleasure/trail? Love to hear the details about other breeding programs!

Again - welcome - hope you enjoy the apf.com forum! :D

Sorry guys my dad already snached up Marco.... I priced him to someone and he spoke for him before I got a response from the other person.

Bandelero del Mistico is a homozygous son of Santana del Cardo. Bandelero belongs to Susan Ostertag of Eilzabethtown KY.

I breed for Naturalness of gait, temperment, and Conformation. I am trying for larger size horses. All of my mares are on the upper side of 14 hands or better and my stallion (Representaante Capuchino) is a around 14 hands.

You own Representante Capuchino? That is Tequila's sire (Tempestuoso Capuchino). Did you breed my boy or did you buy the stallion afterwards? You MUST post a photo for me

I checked, Maravilla del Mistico is his dam? Susan bred him. She has some really amazing horses, but most have not heard of them because she does not advertise or show. When I went to her place to look at the horses I bought I didn't know what to exspect...I walked into her barn and was blown away! She has a Contrapunto son that is a CARBON COPY of Contrapunto... He is georgous, and (LORI) Maravilla's sire. She has a Capuchino son that I would kill for, El Sucesor de Capuchino I have 3 or his daughters and they are worth their weight in gold, He is a huge chestnut 15 hands. She has a Castellano son, Talento , he is cole black and georgous. She had a Amadeus de Resorte Cuarto son, Negro (I can't remember his whole name) He is stunning. She is now breeding pintos so she barely uses all these great stallions. She also has some of the best bred mares I have ever seen, I didn't want to go home. :D

Cool! Thanks for the history. 8-)

Did you see Maravilla? Tell me about her and Representante. What is his temperment like? I need pix PLEASE. :D

Did you know the mare on the cover of the 2006 Showtime Calender is a full sister to my gelding? La Luna, she is gorgeous!

I Can't remember if I saw her or not, she has soooo many horses, but I am sure she is a very nice mare. ALL of her horses are well bred and beautiful, she really has an eye!

I will try to get a better pic of my stallion when it quits raining here.

Wow! I can't believe that color produced such nice buckskin offspring. And he looks thick too. Very solid Paso. And I love his head.

The general color rules do not apply to Pasos! This breed has broken every color rule I have ever heard. Yes he is thick, proably a little over weight right now, and really fuzzy, I hate taking pics in the winter because they all look like teddy bears.

Is he black or dark bay?

cristy

Welcome to our board Cristy. We are always glad to have new people join our group. There is lots of valuable information to be had here. Hope to see you on the boards.

Hi Cristy
I'm new to the board also. Just read all about your horses!
DIBS ON THE PINTO FILLY...

Your breeding program sounds AWESOME!! We have a similar set up on our farm (acreage and barns) but WOW do you have a lot of horses!!!

Your stallion is a cute chunk of a guy I like his build. Are you producing endurance type horses? I heard those tall babies have a flying largo to die for!!
Great to have you here
