Terry, you SHOULD HAVE come to High Desert!!! Glenn Davis set up a whole booth of Kuda tack!!!! You might contact him, see if he has the red one. I know he shows in both red and blue (changes bridles to match his outfit...pretty snazzy!).
I have a beautiful black and white show headstall for Zar.
But I do like that red one!!

Question...WHAT is the colored lacing made of....?
Patent leather? Plastic?
CarolU..I have a beautiful western bridle set I got at nationals....
its very similar to these..... but it is all "sorrel" or tan leather colored...no contrast! It was $150.00 I think... came with all leather romal reins too!
What I'd l;ike would be the headstall & bit hanger WITHOUT reins... I make my own reins...

The BW set I have for Zar is like that, with a romel also. Very nice. I believe the leather is painted.
Here is Zar's set...kind of hard to see it though.
http://pasobaby.tripod.com/PasoFinos/ZarStateFairSizedPlea.jpg
It seems they always come as a set that includes reins. I know what you mean though, I prefer 7/8" double weave reins, most of those sold with sets are 1/2 or 3/4 and single weave. Contact Mauricio, he's very responsive about special orders. Probably can sell you just what you want.
Now what i'd REALLY like are longer browbands!!! I don't know if my horses are LARGE or what, but the browbands are always an inch or so TOO short and pull the headstall up against the ears and put the cheek pieces too close to the eyes. I'm always cutting the seperator and moving them back. Really a pain!!

I really thought you were gonna be a Pink person. ;-) But I can think of a filly that would look good in that blue....to match her eyes. 8-)

He had like a violet or cranberry type color (very classy but not the typical purple we think of). Mauricio and I discussed the type of purple you guys would like, but he said when he orders purple from Colombia....they don't have the same idea about what that color should look like apparently. But he is working in on it.

He said he had ordered it several times....never got the same color purple twice, which was also a pain, and it was never the right color he originally wanted.
This might require mixing his own dye. lol

Lori, would you call your bridle more of a "TEAL" then a blue? And how much is that bridle set? Breastcollar separate? how much?
Thanks. ;-)

Yeah, it's sorta teal, not royal or a regular blue.
The breast collar is separate. I'll have to find out the price. I bought mine so long ago now.

Barb...you're totally right. It would look great on my gray, and my black horse. I just ordered another Bob Marshall saddle (black, endurance), and I don't know whether I should just stay ALL black (boooriiing), or go with the teal breastcollar/headset, and teal Skito pad.
I'm leaning towards teal....
**Lori, if you could let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it! Last time I went on your link a few months ago, they didn't offer/show the breastcollar info.....I'll look again though.** Thanks.

I'll email Mauricio for ya. ;-)
Personally, I think the blue looks great on all the horses I have put it on so far. Buckskin, black, grey, and chestnut. 8-)
However, I'm considering that pink for Mina. Now I just need a matching jacket. 8-)

thaaaaank yoooou, Loooriiiii!
Okay, I was just on there, and I looked up the breastcollar, saw the prices, and figured out that you have the more "complicated" BC....I like that one....but, I like the single strap BC even MORE....the only thing is, it shows it in blue (without a close up option :-? ), but i don't know if it's the same blue/teal you have...... :(
i'll call him, eventually, to figure it out. Birthday presents, here I come!!!

I've seen the one strap one, it IS the same blue. I almost bought one for myself. Although I have never seen anyone go in the ring w/the one that just goes across the chest. So we might want to check w/the show tack Gurus before buying that one.
TrueStepPaso

Right. ;-) We'd better....
But, ya know, the breastcollars aren't a whole lot of $$$, so I think I'll go with one strap this time, and then maybe work my way up to two..... :confused
Plus, I've always had such a "thing" for one strap breastcollars on horse....

Hi Lori, you can find the bridle set on this link http://www.kudastore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KS&Product_Code=02-BriPre-916&Category_Code=02-BriRid, you have the option to choose the pisador (lead line) on natural rawhide color or black or without pisador, you can also choose the type of reins with leather ends or clips.
The Breastplate is on http://www.kudastore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KS&Product_Code=01-SA-BreCol-16008&Category_Code=01-SA-BreCol, and you have the option of the color.
Anyway you can tell to the person to call me and I can customize the bridle on color, horse size, rein size etc..

Fine...I'll love Mauricio, too......That is so cool that he gives 10% off to us APFers. So, I talked the ol' boyfriend into buying it for a birthday present (SWEEEET!), and he already said yes to the 225er (oh yeah, baby!), AND the breastcollar (double sweet!)!!!! Soooo, should I call Mauricio NOW, or in March when we'll order it? Or should we do it sooner...cuz, does it take a while to make/ship?

 Ha! I bought another Bob Marshall saddle...for the parades, shows..and, well, for Poco.
Sooooo, now I need to order a Skito pad, and I think I'm gonna go all out and get a show bridle (the teal one, like Lori, cuz it'll look HOT on my ponies!), and match the Skito to the bridle.....get the teal colored pad. Yay!
Okay...the breastcollar....well, there is the single strap in teal, and then there's the regular v-shaped breastcollar in teal, too. I really like the simplicity of the single...so "clean" looking....

 sorry...no pics...
I got a Trail model with the standard endurance pommel, all black suede.
The reason why I got a Trail, is because after I got done telling her all the things I wanted on my endurance model, she told me that it would cost less to go with the trail model.
I wanted/am getting:
Trail rider rigging
4" cantle
Cheyenne roll (dyed black)
small knee flaps
large cinch d-rings
Youth cut
I'm SIKED!!!! And actually, yes, my saddle will be alot like yours...

I think I have the $150 one, as it has less color. It was the only one available when I bought it. I think the $225 ones are the new and improved ones with added color. I am sick I didn't wait and get the one w/more color now, but oh well.

where the pressure goes?
Mellifluous
02-22-2007, 05:18 PM
where the pressure goes?
yup, something about a nerve that gets too much pressure with the single strap style. Also, think about a horse that is pulling something, the more "collar" style of the y disburses the pressure better and doesn't interfere with the horse's shoulders. Of course, this is from a trail/endurance standpoint, the horses are wearing them much longer and over varied terrain.
Terry Wallace
02-22-2007, 06:01 PM
Yep...IMO...single straps *suck*.... they first of all do not fit right, and they put too much pressure on the front shoulders... I'm talking a strap with NO ring in the center for the strap to bend up & over the sholders.
TrueStepPaso
02-22-2007, 06:51 PM
Yeah...I hear ya, girls......it's true. The thing is though, is that I'd only wear this stuff for showing, or parades...so the saddle won't be slippin' anytime soon. No hills, properly fitting saddle...no problem.
