A week ago it was -18 and today it got up to 42! Suppose to be upper 30's and 40 all this week with heavy rain this weekend and flooding !
Mainly because the ground is frozen - so it will run off not soak in!
We still have several feet of snow melting and ice all over - now comes the MUD :duh
THEN --- It is suppose to get colder again
Today was the first above freezing day since Jan 27th - and most of that time was below zero!

LOL Penny...we never got above freezing in January...it was 60 here Sat and Sun and finally dried out enough to ride. It was supposed to rain here Sunday night, but even at 40 degrees, it was snow. 7 inches of it!!! Cleared off and last night it was 26.

Soooooooo, be careful what you complain about!

sweating

Oh, yeah...that's what your feet do when you put on too many socks. ;-)

I don't expect to sweat until July. :D

This has been the longest it has been cold here that I can remember for a lonnnng time. I honestly wish it would stay this way for a while. No bugs, no hurricanes! But like Carol said, it is supposed to get real warm this week for at least a day. Bleh! I woke up with all the covers kicked off last night too. Get used to that 20 degree weather, and 40 is hot!

Carol U-Are you still getting steady snow out there? I will be completely bummed if we get out to Salt Lake City for a week of skiing and don't see a flurry.

Solitude got 15" of new snow yesterday. Another storm will be here Thursday through Friday. We usually have snow storms through March, and mountain snow storms into April and May.

There will be snow, I'm sure...just if you'll have new snow or spring skiing conditions (which I hate) is a question. Spring skiing doesn't usualy start until late March, but those are days where it gets in the high 50's in the daytime but freezes at night. So you start out each day on ice, and by 2 pm you're skiing in mush (YUK). But it is really NICE from about 10 am till 1!

This is a weird year. Our elk have already gone back up the mountain. That is VERY strange!!!

They are saying we will get rain from your snowstorm
But then things can change and they seem to waffling about that now - not a thing we can do but work around what ever comes !
I did get the end of the drain tile cleared out - but there is a lot of snow to melt - so it will be a mess !
I figure this is our "January Thaw" - the cold part of winter was late -
We can get bad snow storms in March and April - one of the worst storms I remember was in mid April 1974!
ORRRRRR it can turn suddenly hot and stay that way !
Yup - gonna get the car washed this week too - ;-) Instead of dark green it is white

Penny...I remember a year when I lived in Minnesota when they had the Governor's Opener of fishing season on Green Lake, in Spicer, MN, and it was snowing on the guys sitting in their boats out on the lake. It was May 15th!
My girls actually made a thing out of going in the lake, which we lived right on lakeshore, before the ice was off the beaches. They didn't stay in very long, but they were in there...

We had a week of record cold nights in January (only down into the mid-20s, but that's record cold for us). The following week, we had record heat (record heat for January, anyway) -- several afternoons in the 90s. We've had one of the driest winters on record, and yesterday we got 2 inches of rain, an inch of it in one short cloudburst. The pens and paddock are a muddy mess.
