Okay..this is a pretty inovative and creative group here. Has anyone come up with an organized and 'presentable' way to store and use all the trickle chargers in your life? I have two 'stations' of powerstrips - one downstairs for hand tools, but the one up here is the one I'm in a quandry about. We have charge cords there for cell phones, cameras, GPS units, portable DVD player, clippers, and Ni-Cd battery chargers. It looks like speggettii and it takes you five minutes of detangling to find the right cord when you need to charge something.
Bright ideas??

How about storing each charger, when not in use, in a small ziplock bag. You could label the bags with a permanent marker. There would be no tangles, and it would be easy to sort through the pile to find the one you need.

What about a piece of tape with the name of the appliance it belongs to on the cord? :D
FYI :!: Plus once something is charged - unplug the cord and store - had a garage fire in the area -too many things plugged in at once and overheated the power strip -

Remember when you could just leave the house, and not have to take all that stuff?

YES!
They had a story on the news last night about a woman in Florida whose house was damaged by hurricane Andrew, who had been without electricity for the past 15 years! A contractor had taken her money and not fixed her house (where have we heard THAT before?). Anyway, once it was on the news, everyone donated getting her house repaired enough to get power back on.
That brought up the question of what YOU could live without. And you CAN live without most of it.

usually those little chargers use so little energy that the drain on the strip is nil. I think having each line labeled and maybe even hung on a seperate hook would be the best idea, so ya can grab the right one every time with ease.

After Katrina, when we were without power for so long, I almost hated for it to come back. The only thing I found I missed was hot water. Our water heater is electric. Everything else was a slight inconvenience, but after a while I didn't miss the TV or even the air conditioning. Yeah, the washer and hot showers I missed.

I went to the Dollar Store and got about a dozen of those small stackable cases that hook together like a filing cabinet. They come in all different sizes.
I labeled each drawer with what chargers is in it. I also put each charger into a sandwich bag and marked the outside of the bags with a black marking pen. Works Great.
We bought a couple of the larger ones and we keep potatoes in one and onions in the other one and they are great for organizing many things like dish soaps, cleansers, glass cleaner, and they fit right under the kitchen sink. They can also be secured so small children cannot open them and maybe get something that would make them sick or poison themselves.
In our former home we had a propane water heater so we always had hot water. I am thinking about getting one for here if we don't sell the farm right away. The one we have is electric, but I can hook it up to the electric generator.

We have a propane water heater...but it does no good without electricity to run the pump for the water. LOL Just as the furnace (also propane) does no good without electricty to run the fans.
When I first got married we lived in a house without a working range or oven. I cooked for 1-1/2 years with an electric frypan and a toaster oven! Funny how you get used to things...I still cook my roasts in the frypan!
