View Full Version : english stirrup leathers
i FINALLY have a used Torsion treeless saddle! ;-)
now i need a pair of english stirrup leathers for it. what do you guys that use the english leathers recommend? since they attach to a "D" and that "D" is sewn into the saddle under the seat, i am really looking for something that really lays flat. i already checked out the wintec webbers but they won't work since the "D" is sewn to the saddle. you guys have any ideas?

Do a search on this site for the Barefoot London Dressage saddles, and order your leathers from Gail. They come with a sleeve, so the buckle can be down by your foot rather then up under your thigh. They don't sell the sleeves seperately (bummer), so you need to get your leathers from them.
Dana, with that kind of attachment you should buy safety irons. The old C-ring was designed so if you fell and got hung up, the leathers would come off. This can't happen with a D-ring, so you really need safety irons.
Sooooooooooooooooo WHERE are the pictures of your new saddle?? :new confused Nosy BB friends want to know!

Can't use webbers on a torsion....I tried. I have a torsion and just ordered synthetic english leathers and they lie nice and flat....no problems. i bought mine thru stateline tack.

I agree Erin, I love webbers and use them on every other saddle...just that with a D-ring instead of a C-ring you can't attach them. I have the same problem with my Barefoot. Only complaint I have about the saddle.
Webbers are SOOO convienent too! I love them trail riding because it is so easy to change lengths. I lower mine one notch on both sides for going down the mountain. Really saves your knees.
yep, i'm spoiled, i want the leather ones! Gail is out of them but gave me their website to cruise.
(Thanks, Gail!)
will have to wait for pictures, Carol, until my batteries are charged again on my camera. i was given a used digital and it never dawned on me, i'd have to recharge them. Ughhh!
Thank you!
I got my stirrup leathers on saturday and cannot tell you how awesome they are! well worth the money and thank you, Carol, for your suggestion! well worth the money!

For what it is worth, I have a Torsion and have used it for the past several years with a regular set of leathers. The buckles haven't bothered me.

Agree - get some safety stirrups like peacocks. It's no fun to get dragged.
