Who are our long distance riding (endurance) Paso fino trainers/riders with contact info? I see the horses's names listed in the PFHW but it doesn't list the rider.
Are the riders required to belong to an organization for this type of sport?
I am finalizing a "Distance Riding Ask The Trainer" Q&A... send me now any questions in this area.....

I am looking for Specialty/Versatility Training questions also.
email lynngallup@gracewoodpasos.com. thanks

Lynn I've done about 10 LD endurance rides and we've both done many hunter pace rides which are from 6 to 8 miles and last about 2 hours. As you know we're senior citizens so would be very happy to answer questions in particular on how to survive the rides as an older rider, what kind of horse we've found does well, how to keep the horse safe and healthy and to explain the reason we do it - for fun!!

Do you have to be a member of an association to participate? and then what group?
thanks.

for endurance, you do not have to be a full time member. They will charge you a non member fee of $10-$15 which makes you a temporary member for the ride (insurance purposes).
For Endurance, you would be a member of the AERC (American Endurance Ride Conference) to not get charged a non member fee. In my area there are also a good many regional distance riding groups like SEDRA (Southeastern Distance Riding Association), SERA (Southeast Endurance Riders Association and GERA (Georgia Endurance Riders Association.

If you aren't a member and your horse isn't registered (free) you don't get credit for the ride in AERC statistics though so it's better just to go ahead and join AERC. It's not expensive and you get a magazine.. WHEEE

you still get credit in the stats if you are not a member. The magazine is a good perk of membership tho!
