View Full Version : Floridians--question about Coggins?
I'm transporting 2 horses to Fla this week, and all I have back from the EIA is a clear faxed copy of the test (Coggins). Is that acceptable for transport into Florida or must I have the yellow original? (I do have a health certificate also).

I'd call Lori because I have some recollection that you have to have the yellow copy. We've taken a lot of horses from SC to FL and back and always had the yellow and the health certificate and you probably know that if you take a trailer into or out of FL and forget to stop they will chase you down.

Is all depending wich way you are entering the State of Florida, Based on past experiences, I have only being checked by the Gerorgia authorities leaving the State of Florida, but never being checked entering Fla..
We, very frequently have horses transport from MIAMI/OCALA/MIAMI, all the transport company requires is a COPY, not the original......... that is also traveling within the STATE........ going out of State, Health Cert. and a copy of their COGGINS.
Disclaimer: This information in based on my personal experience.....

We were chased down entering Florida with an empty horse trailer. we didn't know we had to stop empty but you do.

echo, the fax copy will do, as long as it is legible. they scan the barcode now. coggins test and health certificate is all you need. stop at the ag inspection station near the state line, on either I95 or I75.

I just got back from FL a couple hours ago, pulling 2 horses. We stopped on I10 going in, but there is no longer an Ag station going out of FL. That is just I10...not sure about I75.
I called the Florida dept of Agriculture today, and was told that a faxed, clear, unaltered copy of the coggins was acceptable. I took the lady's name, just in case of any issues. Bar code? All I have is the old type. NC hasn't gone to digital coggins yet, whish they would soon.
