Hi all. I just got off the phone with Lois. I'm pleased to say she and Meghan are both doing very well. Lois said that she has 2 fingers that look like fingers again although the others aren't quite right yet, but she has movement and feeling in them which is coming along very well with physiotherapy.
Meghan's shoulder was broken in the accident which was not mentioned before, but she has had a plate put in and had to wait a while to begin her physical therapy until it could bear the weight. She is learning to transfer from her chair to other surfaces and manage herself, and is back to her pre-accident weight. For any of you who know Meghan she only weighed 97 lbs to begin with, and went down to 82! Lois said the hospital has her on an experimental diet with very high protein levels, and also her dad John has been bringing in the food she loves from home..ie pasta and venison..LOL. The good news is... Meghan gets to go home this weekend for her first overnight visit!!!
Their house is being renovated to make it easier for Meghans chair to get around, mainly it's just the bathroom, the vanity has to come out and a pedestal sink go in, and a ramp for the step. Luckily their house is laid out almost an open concept on the main floor so she can access all rooms with no problem at all.
Meghan has made it very clear that her horses are not to be sold, and she is making plans to drive her ponies this summer if she is not able to ride, although I have to add she has every intention of riding somehow..LOL.
Just a couple of other things... Lois thanks everyone for their concern and best wishes, you have all been very kind. She will have access to a computer very shortly and will be coming on herself to say so.
I don't know how to say the rest of this without posting certain stunts her mother has pulled since this happened, but I will say this ... Lois asks that if you have been asked to donate anything and wish to do so please do NOT send any funds or anything else for that matter to her mother Laura York. Lois has seen an attorney in Ottawa, and has given power of attorney to her father. I will send information to Leila about that for anyone who wishes to write to Lois. Laura has been told to stay away and Lois does not wish her to be involved at any point regarding anything. I don't want that to come across as Lois asking for anything as she most definately did not, its just for lack of better wording on my part. Also, she states that the posts that Deannie put on www.pasofinos.com are completely untrue and and in fact Deannie doesn't know anything about any of it and is quite angry about that.
Anyway, it all comes down to they are both on the mend and hope to be home soon. They have a long way to go, but are ready, willing and up to the fight, and thanks you all for your best wishes and encouragement, it means a lot to them!!
