well P had his first day with real riders on him, I have done all his ground work, and all his pre-riding work, and I have had a light weight teenager on him for pony rides. sooooooooooo today was the day! he needed a rider and to learn go and stop.
THANKS to two of the best people in the world, P had a MAJOR sucessful first ride. I was in tears I was so excited to see him respond to everythig I taught him on the ground undersaddle with 2 different riders- in only a halter! I love this horse. ( he will have on a traiing Jaquima next time, but I need to bang some holes into it )

THANK YOU KIM AND TERRIE I could NEVER have done it without you!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

T getting ready to head off, me all worried.

I am on the ground.
I have had him for so long, and have done all the ground work , that 1 I am to fat to get on him and they are peanuts.
2 I wanted to be on the ground incase he needed to look toward me for guidance..
but he was sooooooooooooo good!

A suggestion for when you continue with him...drop the nose band down a little...it will give him a clearer "turn" signal...as well as stop signal.
Its pretty high up on his face...

ErinC
03-24-2007, 08:58 PM
Thanks, I see that!
I will have the training Jaquima on him next time.
it should work better.

;-)

Terri
03-24-2007, 09:01 PM
Terry, he's got STOP down really good! thanks to all of Erin's ground work - he listens to his rider. What he was confused about was the "go" signal from his back. But Kim was awesome at explaining things to him and he learns quickly.

And Erin, do we have to go over this "fat" thing again. Good grief girl!!!!

He is going to be a fanstastic horse. But I need everybody's help here, tell Erin how lousey he looks. He will never amount to anything. Then she will sell him to me cheap.

Ha! I noticed there was one down there that looks just like P! You have got to have a matched pair!

sporthorse
03-26-2007, 07:53 PM
 Erin don't take your team to Brenda and Gordons and let them ride there Or they will come home with some of those full sibs of Pillos, then you all will have a buch of those sweet sabinos looking like they have snow on their bellys all the time and posting pics of how soft they are in halters. He looks kind of tall for a paso is that how they all are at Featherhills?Lindsay said she had trouble finding the stirrups on that Brisco
I have seen Corina/ and some of the other ones Like Nickleback bunch of those altitude without attitude.Brio without triage.

ErinC
03-26-2007, 07:58 PM
I need to stick him, right now he is a tad taller then my Incendio and he sticks at 14.2 - so I think he is 14.3
if you look at the pic of KIM sitting on him, it gives you an idea she is 5'4"
and Yes he is thick.
I am praying he hits 15H

Terri
03-26-2007, 08:42 PM
Ha! I noticed there was one down there that looks just like P!

Are you referring to Braveheart? Brenda, what's up with him? He is a year younger isn't he?

ErinC
03-26-2007, 08:44 PM
YUP,
Terri you know you want him, right!
I will drive.

Terri
03-26-2007, 08:45 PM
hmmm, have other sticks in the fire right now. But you know me, I am a horse hog. Wonder how many I can cram into my barn????

B Hall
03-26-2007, 09:32 PM
Yes Terri I am talking about Braveheart. He is one year younger and already takes the saddle, loads, leads, and just about anything you can think of to do from the ground. He is gelded and ready for his special person! He is at least 14.1 on the stick and probably pushing 14.2 very hard. He is not having his second birth day until next month I think.

I presently have a voice message specificly asking about BH by name and I need to return the call .....

Erin do you still have those two pictures you had of the two of them ? If so could you post them and show them how much they look alike!

8-) Cowboy Ed ,don't go at least not yet. go in the snow months ,It is spring down here. I am trying to get the team down here so they can work on those yankee girl tans,Bring your Andalusian cross here to your N. Florida neighbor its only as far away as two or three New England states from Sneads to Lake City and we will let them have the rides of thier lives. Hurrydown girls You can bring Kim, too. I am putting a saddle on Zen for refresher course today and Lindsay on him Friday I think if all goes well (she won't let me get attached to Zen or is it him to me)Looks like this one is her horse. I have Obi Yoda & I ride Zen's half sister Astaciana de Alrena. You can ride all them including Leo and Pocita if you girls come soon! :bolts
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/vistalargo2000/2006winterpicsherd018.jpg
I will get a spring picture of two year old Zen before he is three. The above picture is a yearling almost two picture.

Terri
03-27-2007, 02:10 PM
Oh my gosh, I would sooooo love to come down! Spring sounds nice. There are still a few piles of snow around here. But I have 6 horses in the barn, 4 kids and a non-horsey husband and lots of guilt for the dollars and time I already spend on my horses.

Erin did you measure your guy :?: / love to Know 8-) that Mi Sueno puts some serious size down.
His full brother Braveheart looks big like that already, too.
Just cuz Zen is under saddle does not mean not to bring team yankee down. We now have six riding horses, here. That should get us all mounted up for a trail ride.

Terri
03-30-2007, 01:34 PM
Erin and Kim are headed to NY this weekend to pick up Kim's Centauro. When they get back I'll borrow my neighbors stick and we will "do" both their horses and give you a full report. I am willing to bet Pillo is about 14.2. But he has alot of "grownup horse" filling out to do which should put another inch or so under his withers. He is definitely a good size paso, just reminds me of a teenager (which I guess he is). Rio put a full inch on in his 5th year.

"Team Yankee" I like it!

ErinC
03-30-2007, 01:39 PM
well Incendio sticks at 14.2
and Pillos wither is higher I think he will stick at 14.3
but Yes he still has longer legs, then body, so I know he will go up a tad more in his 3rd year then fill in and out his 4th and 5th year.
so I am pretty hopeful for 15 H
I will stick him like Terri said, then I will also measure the leg like I did the year I brought him home.
If I remember correct when I did the leg thing you taught me, it as 15.1/2"
I just figured I did it wrong.
;-)

the trick is to compare to a known grown horse hit the same spot and it should work I said the bump on inside knee and went out and did again and that was not right /I lifted knee bent put thumb where the middle of bend was then that is where you do the ruler/ tape to. if you have a livestock crayon or lipstick put a dot.baby oil will take off mark.
