I'm also new to this forum, my name is Dru and I am the proud owner of a beautiful buckskin paso mare "Lacey" who is almost 7 yr.s old. I haven't had a horse since I was a teenager (ok, that was a while ago) and so I'm basically starting from scratch. I live in SLC, Utah and have found many wonderful paso friends here who are more than willing to help me out and teach me everything "paso". I finally found a saddle that fits...a Yancey saddle that I really like and so does Lacey.
I'm glad to find a site where I can chat with other paso owners to learn more and enhance my paso horse experience.
Thanks for sharing your time and expertise,
Dru

Hi Dru, Welcome to the board, and thanks for the PM ;-) Check your PM's!

We have a great group of friendly people on here, and if they get too rowdy, I git on em! ;-)

We have a kids forum if you have any youngins hanging around that would enjoy having a place to chat with other kids about their horses. We try real hard to keep the board of a "family" nature.

I see you are from Salt Lake City.....I think we may have some folks out your way.

We are quite partial to pictures around here, so if you got the know-how, would sure appreciate some pictures of your girl. If you need any help, just holler out, and somebody will jump in and help you. Also there is a post on the Rules and Important Information forum....I think it is about the next to the last post on the first page. Way down at the bottom. There may be more recent information above, but I know we originally posted information on how to post pictures.

Enjoy, and hope to be hearing more from you!

She will too, I can attest to that. ;-) Oh, let me introduce myself. I am Barbara from upstate NY. I have one Paso, a 5 year old gelding named Amante, and Mojo, a two year old Shetland.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. Lacey was 6 yrs old when I bought her and she hadn't been riden in 18 mo. She had been owned by an elderly gentleman who had her since she was 6 mo. old and spoiled her rotten. After he couldn't ride anymore he sold her to some people who thought pasos were no different than quarterhorses (!). They used a huge saddle that didn't fit her, used a lot of spur, and also tied her head down....so guess what she did? Fortunately, they only had her for 3 months before they decided that they really didn't want a paso. I had been looking for a paso and fell in love with her the first time I saw her.
I bought her and did ground work with her for about a month and then started to ride her and she never bucked once. The guy who helped me train does the "gentling" for the wild mustangs here in Utah and he was awesome. Right now, I am trying to get her backround information so that I can get her registered. Theres a good chance that shes from Mar de Plato or Juan Juan, but I'll keep you guys posted.
