That is exciting about the SC show. I hope that this year will be a big success. I am looking forward to participating.
More exciting news....
The Puerto Rican Paso Fino will be represented at the Virginia Gaited Jubilee!!! The North Atlantic Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Org. has made arrangements to do a demonstration on Sat. evening after the TWH and RMH championships. We will be doing a "theme" demonstration to music, showing the smooth gait and versatility of the breed.
This is going to be a great opportunity to market our breed to a gaited horse audience! There are a bunch of unique All Breed classes that will be great for us to participate---2 dressage classes, "in hand" obstacle class for horses 2 yr and under, costume, poles, pairs, pleasure classes & more! Anyone interested in participating in the demo feel free to contact me at heartofgoldpasofinos@yahoo.com

Hi Caliber, I hope that you can make it!
A Free Clinic!!! A Free Clinic!!! A Free Clinic!!!
Clinic – Better Paso Fino Showing by Their Owners
Introduction:
Showing Paso Finos has developed into one of today’s truly exciting spectator sports. This unparalleled rise to “super sport” status can be attributed, in a great part, to the publicity afforded it by the media. Both the electronic media and the printed media have projected Showing Paso Fino into the public’s consciousness. The excitement and pageantry of the sport cannot be denied. Once viewed, forever hooked. Indeed, many young people have become captivated with the spirit of the Paso Fino and attempt to emulate the Paso Fino Stars they have seen in the arena.
A bi-product of this is that more and more young people are persuading their parents or guardians to purchase at least one horse for them. And why not? The discipline and professionalism learned in the arena will follow the young rider throughout the rest of their lives. But how does one truly learn the ways of a champion? There is far more to the attainment of success with the Paso Fino than merely watching the experts. What the young rider does not see in the glamour of the show ring is the experience, knowledge, and hard work that go into producing that “perfect” performance. Showing top class Paso Finos is a highly specialized sport. Only a few riders will make it to the top. What is it that makes these champions different from the thousands of other riders who have discovered the pleasures and challenges of the Showing Paso Fino?
It is surely not for lack of enthusiasm that most riders will never make it to the ranks of the elite. Perhaps the problem could lie in a mastery of both training and showmanship skills themselves. Indeed, it is highly likely that that is the case.
Riders can be divided into several basic types. There are those who use the horse as a vehicle, a mode of transportation. People who fall into this category normally give little thought to the animal itself. They do not ride, but rather are conveyed.
A second type of rider is the individual who truly enjoys riding. These individuals normally love their horses and look after them well. Riders in the second category possess average horsemanship skills and a reasonable knowledge of their mounts. This level of knowledge allows the rider to enjoy a wide range of activities with their horse, but denies them the ability to become a true expert in any particular field.
However, there exists a third-type of rider. The rider, who wishes to specialize in a particular discipline, such as Showing Paso Finos, high school, combined training, is a unique individual. It requires a mastery of a logical sequence of skills for both the rider and the horse; a combination of calmness, obedience, and athletic ability which will produce a situation where the horse and rider seem as one.
Whether you are bella forma, pleasure, performance, or executing fino, accuracy of execution must be the keystone upon which every other aspect is based. A sound, progressive system of training, followed by many hours of practice is the only logical answer to a successful partnership in the show ring.
The clinic will provide you with the basic skills necessary to transform you into a successful, winning, Paso Fino horse owner in the show ring.
Be Present,
Candice Burger

Hi Candice,
The clinic will be on August the 4th, 2007 after the PFHA show and during the recess of the PPR show the following day on August the 5th, 2007. The clinic will be conducted by Eng. Ramon Bodon, B.A. M.A. and Carlos "Ninu" Garcias. Carlos has been a professional trainer working in Ocala, FL. for the last 10 years. Ramon and Carlos were coached by Mr. Juan Ramon Figueroa in Puerto Rico when they were younger for an extended time. Carlos has trained many great horses like Prometio de Selecta, Alexandra, Calypso de la Libertad, Encanto Plateado de Ropa, Mr. Puerto Rico, Carabali, and Danubio to mention some. The clinic will be offered to all participants that attend the show and those that are interested in participating in a PPR show. This clinic will be free admission for all the ones that attend to the PFHA and PPR shows.
