We had our Black Hills Horse Expo over the weekend. I also had a booth for the Paso Fino Horse Assoc. There were 4 of us riding Paso Finos in the demo this year on Saturday afternoon.

We were also asked to particpate in the Saturday night show (only 3 breeds were asked, so we felt very honored). That went very well until the grand finale, when the 'comedy' routine (a very naughty shetland pony stallion - AKA 'the Pony from Hell') from the Cavallo Equestrian Act got loose and attacked my horse (with me aboard!). It took 5 cowboys to get him caught and out of the arena. I guess that was the most memorable part of the weekend for me (and Listo). I had to reintroduce him to some nice ponies on Sunday so he wouldn't be scarred for life:)
I noticed the Cavallo Equestrian act (http://cavalloeqarts.com/index.asp) had 2 Pasos in their show, so I asked one of the very hot Italian guys if he would ride in our Sunday demo with us. He showed off a bit (had his horse bow and rear, lie down, etc) but I think it really made the Paso demo even better.
The weather was gorgeous, perfect for riding around the fairgrounds when we weren't showing.

Digital cameras are aweful inside the arena (well, at least mine is). I didn't get to see the evening entertainment because I was in it (I think I was IT, after the pony incident). Jackie's daughter took video, and Cheryl's hubby also did, so as soon as I have something, I will post it. Jackie daughter is 19, so you can imagine what the video of the Italian guys looks like.
Lori and Barb, you've probably seen them perform. They are based out of Orlando. They have 2 beautiful Paso stallions that Matt (our demo sidekick) does Roman riding with. They also have a Haflinger stallion, and 2 drafts. The pony will soon be gelded ;-)
Of course, nobody that I know got the pony attack on video. I'm sure I'll see it on TV someday and someone will win a bunch of $$ at my expense. I did stay on my horse, which was a miracle. One of the performers was hurt (the pony rammed her horse and she fell off and was trampled by the pony). I got off Listo and went to where she fell. She had the wind knocked out of her and a few bruises, but was okay.
What a show!

Debbie, with due respect.... I have to agreed, you are hot..... to gait, and you are way to cute for an Italian........ It will be best if it was COLOMBIAN.
Only one observation, and by all means this is not to dismeritt the presentation, CONSTRUCTION CRITISISM......
The hat makes the balance between the horse and the rider....... think about it.

You all look WONDERFUL!!!!! Congratulations. And CHERYL DID IT, too!!! Yeah.
I'd be having me some pony steaks after he attacked my horse. My Lord!!!! Glad you survived the attack. Good that Listo did not retaliate and take the pony out in front of the whole world!

Yeah, I could learn to eat pony meat too, after that! ;-)
You cute little thing you, you look so good, Debbie...what a great representative of the breed!
I would be anxious to know more about Caliber's statement about the hat though. Do you mean the brim needs to be larger, or that it should be black...I want to know! :D

Thanks for all your nice comments, everyone.
I realize what a great horse I have. People were saying 'great job keeping your cool during that attack', etc. I honestly didn't have time to think. Listo took care of me, that's all I can say. We figured he was attacked because he still acts like a stallion and the pony saw him as a threat. There were about 10-12 other horses out there and he made a bee-line for us from across the arena.
My first thought was 'we can outrun a pony'. Listo had other ideas and turned to face him, no matter what. Some people got him away from us once, and he came right back - he was like a pit bull or something, and always attacking from behind, baring his teeth. Listo has always been afraid of minnies and ponies and his worst nightmare came true. Poor guy!
I felt so bad for him. We did have a little resistance going into the ring the next day. I think he though the pony might have been in there.
One of the trainers in the 'trainers challenge' worked with the pony and by Sunday afternoon, he was much better behaved and was allowed to be part of the Cavallo show again. I think he is taught to be naughty so it is funnier. Kind of sad, I think.
I would be anxious to know more about Caliber's statement about the hat though. Do you mean the brim needs to be larger, or that it should be black...I want to know! :D
I'm glad you're wondering too, Carol! I just attributed it to my blondness and was afraid to ask  I was asked by several friends to wear my hair down for Sunday's demo, so I did (I know it's not appropriate for showing) and wore my black 'Zorro' hat as my kids call it. The Italian (Matt) has hair about as long as mine, so I figured if he could wear his down, so could I.
