Just wondering how many people actually read the regional news. And consider this an Always/most of the time type thing such as .."I always /most always read all regions.." etc
i always read the region news in PFHW to see how much fun everyone is having. the region i belong to sends out a newsletter but i haven't seen it in PFHW in over a year now.

I do wish that regions had to put something in there. Mid america never does. I think it has fallen apart.

When GW has news in it..I always read it...we don't often have news in it....perhaps because no one is volunteering to do it...
I kind of skim through other regions...one thing that will get my attention quick...is a photo of somebody on a horse from another region that I know..then I will read it to see what they have been doing.
The one page I ALWAYS read....is the suspension page.
The next thing I always look at are the horse for sale ads in the back, the new format where you can have a pic of the horse...a great idea that few people seem to use...I do look for that to grow eventually...

The PFHW Regional News column is being planned to be reduced in volume with the new publisher to a short paragraph with one photo.
I am in the process of compiling notes into a letter format to the Editor on through the PFHA Communications Committee on changes being proposed (and implemented). Our commitee opposes this change in the Regional News as we believe members like this section of the magazine, and it is still a membership service to know what other regions are doing.
Any thoughts, pass along to me pretty fast.
For those regions that don't submit news for the Regional News, let your officers know you'd like to see it in there. What it takes is a volunteer with some extra time to submit it in advance to the Editor. You may be asked to volunteer if you'd like to see it happen. The person who was doing it just may not be able to do it now due to personal circumstances.

Lynn I think that is a terrible idea. Its hard enough getting all the news in at 600 words..and now with being every other month it will be even harder to cover what events are in the future and what our members have done...Whats going to take up the space ..more glossy ads???No offense to anyone who advertises ( hey we have ) but I thought the magazine was suppposed to become more of a communications tool? Well we need MORE space for Regional news now that its coming out less often.
Some of the members in our region do not have a computer/internet access (I must also point out they are active members)What are they supposed to do?
I guess my main concern is for those members of a region who choose not to pay the extra regional membership dues. Most of the time this gets you a regional newsletter. If you do not join you will never know what is happening. If we cannot show these 'non-members' what their regions are doing or whats coming up,there will be less chances for them to say "hmm..I might join after all..it isnt all just shows" (or whatever reason they didnt join) The regional News in PFHW was our best way..
We tried sending out our newsletter to non dues paying members and it was very expensive. Yes we are now going electronic (with the option of a hard copy for those willing to spend a few more bucks) but it will now be even harder to try to stay in contact with all members in a region('club' member or not)
It would be a big step backwards.
And yes I do feel taken advantage of ,being made to purchase something with my PFHA membership dues ,and what, a year later its getting smaller?
suck sucks sucks.

Hey, that's why I posted.
I wanted to hear from any of you that want the regional news left the same.... and I will make my case for it from the Communications Committee.... we think it is a bad idea to reduce the content in this area. You can let the PFHW Editor know also what you think.

I would love to see even more in the regional news...certainly not less...I'm very unhappy with getting the magazine less than every month. I look forward to each issue...I also don't like having to pay for something I'm not going to be getting...the magazine is the only thing that keeps us all in touch with what's going on...

I'm of the group that would like to see more not less.
I LOVE to read the region news and as a member, don't really want to track it down here though I love reading region stories about activities and such. I just think it SHOULD be a big part of the breed magazine.
My region doesn't publish anything..it took over 2 years to get an updated website, now still bare after rehab. But, the region news would be one of my reasonings to try and find a region I can be active with. Gave up on the beating head against KY tree though.
I'm paso crazy and connection with other paso crazy's is important! As well as newbies...let them see all the fun stuff!
More region my vote, in the poll I answered read all regions.

I definitely don't think there should be less region news. Its cool to see whats going on in your region, as well as those around you. 600 words is nothing, and definitely not enough for all the stuff Piedmont always has going on!
