Can y'all recommend some good reading on mare (breeding, prenatal, and postnatal) and foal care?

"Blessed are the Broodmares" is excellent.

Let me tell ya about my two favorites...
Blessed are the Broodmares IS good.. BUT...
My first favorite is THE COMPLETE BOOK OF FOALING, (An illustrated guide for the foaling attendant) by Karen E.N. Hayes, DVM, M.S. (About $35.00) This book covers everything you need to know, to deliver any possible presentation that could be done, without a vet present, plus much. much more. Money WELL spent for this one.
and my second favorite is VETERINARY GUIDE TO HORSE BREEDING, by James M Griffin M.D, and Kirsten Darling DVM (about $35.00)
This book covers everything from breeding, knowing when to breed, abnormal estrus, the stallion, pregnancy, mare infertility, abortion, difficult foaling, care of the newborn foal....
If you had both of these books..you really will not need any others...

I have "Breeding Management and Foal Development" by Equine Research. Its rather a thick book but covers most everything in layman's language. They also have one called "Equine Genetics and Selection Procedures" which I have. Blessed are the Broodmares is a good old standby. The equine magazines you may search online for feature articles..should provide most updated info. Nothing like the Internet for current research.

Thank you all... Since this will be my first horse pregnancy/baby I want to make sure that I know as much as possible. I'd rather be able to ask the vet educated questions.
Lynn, I'm currently looking towards early May for a start. Hopefully I she will be cycling regularly by then and it will be a bit warmer for foaling. Plus I'll have another couple months to try some hormone therapies if the first doesn't take...
