.....even though he's a Morgan....
This is a young stallion I pulled shoes off of and trimmed in Maine on Saturday.....he was a complete gentleman, too. He came out of the stall like a complete puffed-up stud in true show-off form, but once I grabbed his leg, he was a doll!
I thought he was worth sharing because he's a cutie (even in his "winter looks"), and I've got a free breeding to him.

He's listed as grulla, and he has amber eyes (not able to see in pics)...kinda freaky at first, but then I really loved it!
Oh, and this is the 25 yr old mother of my beloved Morgan mare Kira....it was kinda cool to meet her mommy!

Wow, what a hunk of a horse! He's all boy, that one. ;-)
The pooch looks a little overworked, poor thing.

That is a good looking horse, and Kira looks just like her mother.

They are very nice looking horses Abbey. Next to Pasos, Morgans are my favorite horses!! My 1st horse was a morgan. So are you going to take her up on that free breeding? I hope you do, I'd love to see Kira as a mommy and PJ as an uncle.

He was in his late 20s in this picture! They are pretty horses.

 Oh wow...is that you Terri, on that Morgan!? How cool! Thanks for taking the time to post that!
It's funny how alot of Paso ppl start with Morgans.....they are the "Paso Starter Horse" ( Paso not included).
They are great horses...very level-headed, and pretty.
I once tricked Juan into seeing how Pasos look similar to Morgans.....I brought over four pics of stunning Morgans, and asked him to pick out which one was the Paso....he couldn't decide between TWO pics.
I know...it was wrong of me. But he got my point. ;-)
And.... two vets, and Michael thought Kira was a Paso when they first saw her.
I don't know yet if I'm gonna take up that offer....the woman is buying an egg out of Kira anyway, so I'll see what the result is first. I'm just so scared to breed her....in case anything happens to her....I would just never forgive myself.
Oh, and Novio (Pj, Poco, whatever..) would probably think he's the father. You know...cuz he's such a stud himself an' all....

Agreed.
When I swithed to hunter/jumper training, I was schooled on a Morgan, who was smart, spirited and very versatile.
Abbey, is this stallion gaited?
Cool picture Terri.

Wow, what a beautiful Morgan! He could be passed off as a paso pretty easily!
You shoulda told me you were coming to ME, you knucklehead! I could have given you 3 more trims! Now that Mirage is back to being a normal horse (not a mommy) she is very good about her feet being worked with.

He's pretty, love how his mane is wavy like that
TrueStepPaso
04-17-2007, 03:57 PM
Yeah, Morgans tend to have that wavy mane thing going on.....
Helen, no...as far as I know, the stallion isn't gaited. I'd be in heaven if he was though.
Laura.....HA! I thought about telling you, but then I remembered that you were going to the Parelli tour in Springfield...so I figured it was a lost cause. :new confused I stayed at my friend's in China, ME for the weekend, and I'll probably go back in the next month or two. If I do, I'll trim your ponies....I know my friend said that a good trimmer up there is VERY hard to find. She used to use some guy named Scott (through ABC vet) who was "amazing", but she had to cut some costs......and now her horse hooves have suffered terribly from it..... :-?

Oh yea, I didn't end up going to Parelli because of the weather.
I wonder if Scott the farrier is the same one I use? Scott Martello? He is the closest I can find to natural trims. I still don't like how Mirage's hind hooves are though, but maybe some of it is from her hind leg conformation? I will have to take some pics soon....

Aww, he's gorgeous!! I definitely have a soft spot for Morgan's....the 'old style'...not the ones that some people are breeding now, you know, the ones that look like 'saddlebreds'...
Here's a couple pics of the Morgan I used to have before switching to pasos....he was a sweet boy....rescued him, as a stallion, from someone who had him locked in a poop-filled stall....and forgot about him in her 'drug' induced state....paid 800.00 for him, she was happy to get more money for drugs..
He had worn a halter so long it was rubbed into his nose....which was raw... and the hair never did grow back there....
Here is Manyone Trustin Love...
http://pasofyd.smugmug.com/photos/144572860-M.jpg
and here is him playing with his daughter, she was 'morab'...
He had turned into a 'gelding' by then...

I still miss them both....but couldn't keep them and have pasos too.... :(
but Morgans were my first love....they are great horses!!!

Oh my gosh Joy, he is stunning!

Laura.....this Scott guy that my friend was talking about is apparently the only "natural trimmer" in that area of ME, and said he did excellent work. He was also highly recommended by that ABC vet business to anyone that was loooking for a natural trim specifically. But, then again, her version of "excellent" may be different from mine...... ;-)
Joy....thank you for posting your "first love"....he's VERY handsome!!! Very "morgan"!! Poor guy...I'll bet after all that, he was still a sweetheart too!
