Sometimes getting what you ask for is not so much fun...
A few years ago I put on more weight than I care to pack around... Numerous failed diets (no will power) and on again, off again "formal" exercise and I still have extra weight... Husband does not comment, isnt worried about it and I am fit.. BUT he is a weight lifter (non-pro just really dedicated). I have begged and nagged and begged to have him plan a workout... promising I will actually do it - then I get side tracked and just complain about the weight... He is sweet but says unless you push yourself it isnt going to happen. He says my injuries will only get worse if I dont strengthen the area (shoulders, neck and knees)
Well last week he gave in, and created a workout schedule but he is spotting and training (wont leave me to do at my leisure)...
So I figure with all of the nagging and B@$%#ing I have done he has just decided to kill me!!!
I can hear him now - there, that oughta shut her up :D
So if you guys dont here from me for a while, it is because I am too sore to type and to tired to call for help.... :sick

Stef...being in the same position you are (but my hubby thinks SURGERY is the answer to my neck, shoulder, elbow, and wrist  did the wrist and it was a disaster!), I have decided that I need to marry a physical therapist instead and get ice/heat packs, sonic treatments and messages!!! :D
Where did I go WRONG??? I married a scientist who thinks that stuff growing in the fridge is WAY TOO FUN to throw out! :puke
PS...You have my empathy.

Oh dont get me wrong, he is awesome... I love my husband - he is one of the best men I have ever known. But nasty, just nasty  hard working maniac when it comes health and exercise...
Surgery - uhuh scares me to death... no medications, no doctors in years (I need to start scheduling those yearly things again LOL) .. Just lots of pains and strains.
He does leave me alone to do my cardio - bike but he checks the miles and minutes on it... my luck he has found a way to turn back something to make me work harder
Now as far as things growing in the fridge... well Carol your hubby would have a full time job at my house (see signature line)....

Are you me?
Your situation sounds EXACTLY like mine, weight added, workout addicted husband, asking for a plan...everything. Except I have yet to do my plan. I *hate* working out. I will go out and build something all day long, but workouts bore me.
My empathy sympathy.

That's my thought Linda why in the world should I have to work out when I "work" outside most of the day (breaking at meal time to come here or if it's raining)... I'm with you , I hate working out!!!
I ride and/or work the young horses
I feed/care for 20 horses
trim feet
fence
This just sucks!!! thanks for the support guys - I hope I can stick with it.

Stef, are you aware that there is a weight loss support section here at APF called Pound Busters? It is a hidden forum, just for women; PM Lori is you want to join, she will give you details.

My husband isn't a workout nut...he's an athletic sport nut. He pedals about 100 miles a week, skis, hikes, climbs, etc. Sooooo, as you might imagine, he has no 'love handles' :-? .
When I did workout (and I used to be 'religious' about it) I would concentrate on an aerobic workout each day (so I could 'enjoy' aerobic metabolisim for 24 hours... ) and added free weights in the winter when I wasn't active outside.
The thing I found most helpful was to calculate the time it would take me on the stair stepper to burn OFF all my favorite foods. Man, when you're looking at 2 hours, that small plate of alfredo looks AWFUL.
BTW - I always treated myself once a week for being good.

aerobics just dont work for me because of the time required... I bike about 40 miles per week and use the treadmill but I dont have the time required on them (like you said 2 hours to burn the calories) so then it doesnt get done and it just gets worse so I will do cardio but limit it 3X per week on the bike...
I do portion control but dont restrict things that I like - other wise cravings kick in and then well all he!! breaks loose....
I dont like depriving myself.... :D
