I have just bought my first PPR paso :bsmile !! I have always wanted one, and despite the warnings my husband gave me about getting another horse, I did it anyways  ...but it will be a horse, hopefully, that HE can ride in the future, so what could he say???
Peli Rojito is a 5yo. gelding, his sire is Pechudo and his dam is Tormenta de la Milagro and although I haven't seen him 'in person' yet, and won't get him home till spring, I am still very excited about him!!
A big thank you to Barb Nichols of Frosty Acres Paso Fino Farm!! :D

He's beautiful!!! Love his color!
I myself got into the PPR thing this last fall with the purchase of my PPR Palomino mare, Conejo Rosado, aka. Bunny! (Ok, so she got this name because she looked like a little pink bunny rabbit when she was born.. ).
Here she is shortly after I bought her:

Many of you may remember Bunny's photos.

We just found some time to ride Bunny lately, and she is as was promised, smooth as silk, and a real powerhouse. I guess if I were smart I would propegate this amazing facet of our breed and breed her to a PPR stallion (Barb Preiss's Corito de Vez is my first choice) but I originally bought her to breed to my Rojo Tejas for hopefully a golden dappled Palomino foal (or maybe one the color of Joy's new boy)!
(She has had her toes nicely trimmed since this photo was taken... ;-) )

Wow Joy, how exciting for you and your hubby. He looks like a nice solid boy, how tall is he?

Carol, I just LOVE Bunny, (and she and 'Corky', yes, that's mine's nickname..., have the same great, great grandsire, Faeton LaCE!) and if she were mine I would surely breed her to a PPR, but your Red is so nice too.....I hope though that the PPR bloodlines will survive, maybe you can get your foal from Red and then Corito afterwards :D
Barb, he was sticked at 14h, he will turn 6 in July, so I doubt if he will have much, if any, more height to him than that...but I am hoping he will be sturdy enough for Guy to ride eventually. And I have been told the PPR's mature very slowly. Not sure if they are any slower than any other bloodline, my own experience has been that between the ages of 4 and 8 there was quite a bit of change in body 'mass' and I have only had Columbian bloodlines...
What I AM most excited about is the gait.... :D

PJ- I'm marking you down for loads of test rides on that boy. ;-) He appears to be a great example of the PPR. :D

I am very curious about the 'mystique' surrounding this PPR bloodline, everyone who owns one that I've talked to is SO very passionate about them! I can't wait to get to know Corky, and find out for myself.....

Hey
what a boy! He is handsome! Have you been able to see him in motion? Like a video? How does he move?

PasoJoy
01-15-2006, 05:21 PM
I have seen a video 'clip' of him, really hard to judge the gait from it, but he has a 'glide' to his gait, no pounding, slamming piston legs, he is pure 'real' pleasure gaited... ;-)
Barb, I doubt he will be the one I take on the ride, I want him to settle in here for a bit before I start putting extra pressures on him! I will have plenty of time for rides on him in the future!

He has a very sweet face and looks like he will be lots of fun!Now just keep your chaps on until he gets hom ein the spring and you will be ok...

I think all pasos change body mass between 4-8..Not just PPR..cant speak for other breeds..

He certainly LOOKS PPR. Congrats to you! If his gait is PPR too, what they say is right...you will never go back. Just looked at the video, and he really looks like a laid back sort. And he also looks like he could really scoot along in gait if pushed some. Like his demeanor a lot.

Thanks Linda! That video was taken last year, early summer I think, I don't think he had been under saddle very long at that point..I have been told that he IS laid back, but if you 'want something more' he will gladly comply! He is also collecting himself up more in his gait as he matures.. I really am looking forward to getting him home!

If you squint your eyes while watching the video you can see that the rider just glides along on a smooth plane...He moves a lot like my 7/8 PR filly. Calm and quiet with low and smooth action. I am getting excited about her gait!
