(With photos if Photobucket cooperates -- I've been struggling with it for three days.)

Andrea G., two friends of hers, and I went up to the Festival of the Spanish Horse last Saturday. We only saw the afternoon classes and the evening show, so I don't have many pictures. (The ones I took during the show didn't come out well; I had the speed setting on my new camera set too high and they came out dark.) But here are a few:

This is the Peruvian Paso gelding who stole Andrea's heart. He won his very large class, too.

These are the first, second and third place winners in the Paso Fino costume cllass:

The next pictures aren't very good (very dark) but you might find them interesting anyway.

I don't know whether it's true, but the announcers said this is a true albino horse -- the only one in the U.S.A.:

These next two horses (not pasos) did all kinds of manuevers and tricks in the arena. What's interesting is that the rider was using long reins to guide the horse he wasn't riding -- but he was guiding his own horse totally "no hands."

And the last one had the most beautiful long mane:

Sorry, Carol, I wanted to take the largo race, but I only saw it from a distance. I was "on duty" saving our seats for the evening show, and I only got a few glimses from the top of the stands. :(

Too bad we can't see the eyes of that 'albino' horse. Lovely photos, tho. And that cremello Peruvian is to die for.

Great Photos PasoVicki!!
Especially of "my" Cremello!
Linda the Cremello Peruvian has very light blue eyes - almost like glass. We visited him after the classes and he looked like a stud - he was gelded when he was 4 years old and he is 8 now. Very handsome horse!!!
He is way out of my price range - otherwise I might have tried to buy him!

Vicki - you also got excellent photos of the costume class. And the horses inside the arena came out good too - even though they are darker. Much better pics than I have taken over the years there!

I liked the second place costume class horse & rider best, too.

I think Linda meant the eyes of the supposed albino from the evening show. Do you recall exactly what the announcer said, Andrea? I know he said the horse was a true albino, and the only one in the U.S. -- and I think he said one of only seven in the world. He called it a "California White," I believe.

The cremello Peruvian gelding is gorgeous -- but I think he was even more beautiful in Andrea's eyes because he reminded her so much of her gelding, Valor, who died suddenly last year.

I have a few more pictures: one of the only entry in the paso fino driving class, one or two from the paso performance classes, and some dark ones from the evening show. But Photobucket has been such a pain in the you-know-where this week that I stopped after the ones above.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but these two horses are in step together...well, opposite legs (this guy is VERY coordinated!)

Parelli does this riding Magic and with Casper in lines. It really is amazing what a person can do with their horses, patience, knowledge, and some imagination.

That had to be a beautiful performance!!

Carol, that is Ramon Becera riding. the same guy who you saw in Las Vegas last year. He is an amazing horseman. The best I have ever had the privilege to know. He can literally do ANYTHING with a horse.

You know, he looked familiar, at least from the back side! He is amazing....a true vaquero. I'd love to learn from him. I hope they have him back at Gold Cup this year.

I've got video of Ramon Becerra - he's AMAZING! I guess he trains Bo Derek's horses....

He used to train Bo's horses. She no longer has horses and Noah Wylie owns her old farm now.

When I talked to Ramon in Las Vegas last year he said that she did not have any horses any more. Ramon trained some Pasos for a farm that I worked for back in the eighties. He taught them some dressage and trick stuff and I met him back then. He was working at Bo's then. I got to ride her black Andalusian when we went to see the horses one time. He was VERY cool. And I have it on tape to prove it. :D Ramon is a master. I could watch him work all day.

Ramon lives in the same town as me, and I heard he is having a horse sale soon, maybe tomorrow, I can't remember. He has tons of horses out at his place, you drive right by it on HWY 101 through CA. It would be so cool to buy a horse that he trained!

I have an old video of Ramon working a black Andalusian stallion. He really is a great trainer. Love the photos. I sure would like to know what the genetic color typing on the albino horse. The genes would tell it all.
