Here are the class descriptions I have come up with for these two "fun" and "sport" classes for the 2007 NC State fair Show Prizebook. Event is: 10/15/07. You may wish to use the same if you offer these.
Paso Fino Wine Glass Class
The Wine Glass Class demonstrates the smoothness of the Paso Fino horse's ride and the tractability of the Paso Fino to perform with ease. The object is to finish the class with more water in your wine glass than anyone else.
*Note: this class is unrecognized and not pointed with USEF and PFHA, thus a separate entry blank is required as per USEF rule GR211.
Attire: Paso Fino official costume required.
Tack: English
Procedure:
Each entrant enters the ring holding a full glass of water at the Paso Corto to the right. Gaits to perform are Paso Corto, Paso Largo, and Walk both ways of the ring. A noticeable change in speed is mandatory between the Corto and the Largo. The horse may be excused if the horse is not performing the correct Paso Fino gait. Class is called and the water is measured at the line-up. The entrant with the most water remaining in their glass wins. If there is a tie, the judge will ask the riders to take the rail and resume the ride. The judge may change the order of calling gaits and also request a halt or back on the rail.
Only one hand is used to hold the glass away from the horse and rider. The hand may not cover the top of the glass.

Pole Bending
The Pole Bending Class demonstrates the fast forward speed of the Paso Fino horse's Largo gait and the agility of the Paso Fino in performing. The object is to complete the class routine in the fastest time with the least penalties.
*Note: this class is unrecognized and not pointed with USEF and PFHA, thus a separate entry blank is required as per USEF rule GR211.
Attire: Same as the Paso Fino Pleasure Division.
Tack: Same as the Paso Fino Pleasure Division.
Procedure:
The entry shall perform the Paso Fino largo gait. Six poles shall be placed 21 feet apart in a straight line, with the first pole being 21 feet from the timing line. The entry shall cross the timing line, move in an approximately straight line to pole six (farthest pole), make a 180 degree turn around pole 6, pass between pole 6 and pole 5, bend through the poles to pole 1, circle pole 1, bend through poles to pole 6, make a 180 degree turn around pole 6 and cross the timing line, by moving along the poles on the side opposite that on which it first approached pole 6. The entry may start either to the right or left of the first pole and then run the remainder of the pattern accordingly. (See Diagram.) In the event of a tie, the entry declared the winner in the runoff must re-run the pattern within 2 seconds of its original time or the runoff must be held again.
Penalties:
1. Failure to follow the course (off-course) - disqualification
2. Excessive use of spurs, crop, reins or romal - disqualification
3. Obstacle knocked down - five second penalty
4. Each break in gait except for end turns - five second penalty
* (Include if you are holding these classes at a USEF affiliated show).
