possible in the panhandle during the late afternoon on Friday. Isolated strong thunderstorms are also possible in the western
panhandle, with frequent lightning strikes and hail being the main hazards. Wind: Northeasterly winds of 15-20 mph are forecast for
northeast Florida, with west or northwesterly winds forecast in South Florida. Onshore winds will develop during the afternoon in the
panhandle and the peninsula. Winds in the peninsula are forecast from the northwest at 10-20 mph.\

• URGENT INFORMATION
o EVACUATION ORDERS - Mandatory evacuations for those living East of U.S.
441 from the Georgia/Florida border South to Interstate 10. Voluntary
evacuations are in effect for residents living West of U.S. 441 to the Suwanee
River North of Interstate 10
o CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE RAPIDLY - Listen to local officials, follow
directions and heed any evacuation orders
o SHELTERS – Baker County, Columbia County and Suwanee County have open
shelters
• TEAMS FIGHTING FIRES STATEWIDE
o Federal, State and local resources are assisting the Florida Division of Forestry
in over 50 counties
o Over 1000 Federal, State and Local personnel are providing support
o Helicopter crews from Georgia and South Carolina are supporting Florida efforts
• FLORIDIANS CAN JOIN THE TEAM – “ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE TO BE SAFE”
o Stay Indoors - to limit the inhalation of smoke and ash
• Run your air conditioner with a clean filter and the fresh air intake closed,
to prevent additional smoke from entering your home
• If you are not comfortable in your home seek alternative shelter
• Check on the elderly and those with respiratory conditions
o Smoke On Highways - Motorists should be cautious, turn on lights, slow down,
or pull over, but DO NOT stop in the middle of the road
• For road condition information dial 511
o Be Careful With Fire - pay attention to any open fire source including, cigarette
butts, fireworks, BBQ pits, and camp fires
o Protect Your Pets - move animals inside where possible and evacuate them
with your family when directed by officials
o Be Firewise - materials such as pine needles and leaves should be cleared off
your roof. Remove all brush, mulch and debris 30 feet away from your home
and property during high fire conditions
