We did it!!

Pia and I completed our first 25 mile LD endurance ride yesterday at Blazing Saddles ride in Laurel, MS! We finished in 5 hours 3 minutes. Slow, but we did poke along for a good bit of it. It was pretty hot and we weren't in a hurry - the goal was just to finish. We came in 11th out of 18, I think. And she got all "A's" so I was really happy with her.

She was great - I think this is the sport she was born for! It was also her first time staying on a picket line - again, no problems. I'm thinking I can quit thinking of her as a "green" horse now.

Thanks for such great support you guys! I don't actually have any photos - they just weren't on my radar. We'll definitely do it again. I really did enjoy it - and it didn't seem to tax Pia at all. She didn't even show signs of being tired until around mile 22-23, and I think that was more heat related as she kept looking at every patch of sand with obvious thoughts of rolling!

I admit - in my mind I had built it up to be incredibly difficult and it wasn't. Challenging, yes, but not really difficult. Maybe we're in better shape than I thought!
