Hi everyone,
This is Mr. Handsome. We have a "date" Saturday afternoon.

Yes, yes...I know. He has a lot of Resorte in him, but I'm still checking him out.

You are right...looks very handsome!
What is wrong with having Resorte?

I've just read some threads on the BB that discuss the opinions people have of too much Resorte blood. Not everyone is crazy about it, because they tend to be "hot." I'll have to see this guy for myself.

I have the "date" all planned. We'll work on the ground for awhile to see how well we connect. If that goes well, then I'll go for a spin. If he's good under saddle, then I think about it for a day, make a decision, get a pre-puchase exam, and truck him home to MA.

He is one handsome dude!!! How big is he? What is the white spot on his shoulder? I hope you like him, he is the bay you want. Remember, don't prejudge him based on what you may or maynot have heard somebody say about bloodlines. Incendio is 3X Hilaches, and sweeter, more easy going horse you wont find. MORE important than blood lines is good solid training.

Hi Terri,
That white spot is the freeze brand from Besilu. Could it possibly be any bigger?

Perfect height for me -- 14.2hh.

Also, I'm not a fan of socks, but I'll get past that, I suppose.

That is a Besilu brand Terri. I told Sharon that although he is heavily line bred Resorte, Profeta (his dad) tends to put a nice temperament on his babies. Also not too judge him until you ride/handle him. 8-)

look forward to the photos!! Now please explain what your avatar is.

SharonP
05-14-2007, 08:18 PM
LOL! My avatar is my incredibly sweet cat, Jake. He's a Persian who can stand on his hind legs like a gopher! I've never seen that before, and I've owned cats my entire adult life. Here, he is playing with his fishing pole string toy.

her cat!

Incendnio has
Resorte Jr
Resorte I
Resorte II
&
Resorte III
in him also.

A woman I respect the MOST in the Paso world once said
" I can not belive you can ride him never mind that he gaits "
and he does both and does both very very well!
SO never never never judge by the lines.

SO never never never judge by the lines.

Exactly - wait until you handle/ride him! Luis said he's a real sweetheart!

Not that it isn't obvious, but has anyone noticed Moreno has the hair gene???

I had a cat very much like your cat. He was a maine coon and he would walk on his back legs and loved to box / spar with my daughter. He would stand just like that very flat on his back feet. He weighed 11 lbs when he was 6 months old. They are funny cats, would play more like a dog than a cat.

I am going this Saturday with a friend of mine who doesn't know horses, unfortunately. We're driving in and back in one day.

Allegedly, Moreno does great in the show ring, trails, and parades. Not at all spooky. I don't have a video, but you can be sure I'll be taking plenty of pictures from every possible angle. Luis sold the owner the horse, but the owner had a heart attack and needs to sell the horse -- he currently owns another PR PF.

I'll post them to the forum as soon as I can. I'm looking forward to the feedback.

Nice looking horse, does PRPF mean Puerto Rican Paso Fino. Now we are talking, do you have any pics or info.

Hi Denise,
Yes, PRPF means Puerto Rican PF. Moreno is Colombian.

Unfortunately, I have no more pics. I am calling the owner tonight to ask some critical questions. If I don't get the responses I want, then I'll move on to yet another Mr. Handsome!

are you still going to see him?

SharonP
05-15-2007, 11:35 AM
Long story short, I'm not going to see Moreno. BUT, the good news is that I'm off to Buttermilk on May 24 & 25! I'm really excited about this trip. Maybe I'll be a new mom sooner than I thought!

Terri

Soooo, share some details. What at Buttermilk are you particularly interested in?

SharonP

Terri,
I don't know yet. I talked to Luis last night, and he has an all black mare who is only three months under saddle. This may be too much for me, but I don't know.

He has some others that I'll take a look at, but I have no pics. Also, he said that if he has nothing for me, he'll take me to nearby farm that has about 20 PFs.

Nevado is Profeta's sire and he is very good about putting nice disposition to the "R"line .Nevado actually beat his sire Resorte Cuarto and Bochica and another great whited out grey maybe Contrapunto in a Fuera del concurso film I saw from a competition in Colombia after a long work off where the judges actually had to ride the horses to decide. It was very good film the crowd went wild and instead of cones the judges/Or stewards stood while they circled closer and closer and did as awsome a job doing serpentines as I have ever seen. To top that they say Capuchino beat his brother Nevado in a close major (mundial maybe???)competition while Nevado was in PR .
( N stood/lived there many years I guess)

I think that horse is stunning, I think Mr. Bejamin Leon is a fantastic reputable BREEDER to say the least......... in reference to the "RESORTE" lineSSS.......
and someones comments in past threads, only SHOWS the degree of IGNORANCE and the impact that a comment out of text like that can only cause, "a negative results"...........

If you like that horse, assure that is the horses that does it for you......and that will meet ALL of your expectations and needs.

All I have to say is, he is stunning with a great PRESENCE.......

Good LUCK!!!!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with a horse having allot of Resorte breeding or any horse for that matter.

People take comments about the concerns of inbreeding to a particular individual or concerns about inbreeding alone out of context and then interpret that horses inbred to XXX will have problems.

Folks misconstrue certain comments to mean whatever the problems are or could be will affect the entire population of horses with those bloodlines. Emphatically that is not the case.

There isn't any bloodline that is free of faults and so when looking at any horse, the knowledge helps the observer to discern if these faults may exist. Even if they do, it doesn't mean the horse is not capable as a performer or breeder. Only that the owner needs to be aware and manage the horse accordingly. The problems associated with Resorte horses is no different than the problems associated with other bloodlines such as Chucuano, Bochica, Contrapunto, Kofresi, Labriego, or Replica de Majestuoso.

This "Resorte Free" by-line is only about preserving other bloodlines and having them available for the future. It is no more different than preserving the "purity" of a Colombian or Puerto Rican bred horse. It doesn't mean a Resorte-free bred horse is better conformed, better gaited or has a better temperment.

Just because folks like or dislike certain horses or bloodlines, doesn't make them right, it only makes them opinionated. Thank goodness we do not all agree!!!! I depend greatly on others to disagree so that the future of the breed remains wholesome.
