Ok, you already know I'm nuts. I'm now looking over Paso Fino ads to check if THEY have fat deposits...lol

But I came across this one ad where one of the pictures has a close up on the horse's face...and the expression is just like the one you'd see on a dog at the pound.

I bet this ad sells that horse. I just wish I could take him home right now. Doesn't it make you want to go cheer him up?

I'm sure he was upset over something small...like his pasture mate leaving for a ride...but what a look.

I forgot to tell you one way to check for IR. Look at the sockets above his eyes. If they are sunken, you are probably ok, but if they look puffed out, you may have a problem. I have the poster child for IR. I will have to photo some of her 'telltale' areas so you can see what to look for.

The only way to check for IR is to do blood tests for it.

I have an IR mare that is not fat, cresty, have fat pillows, or a single drop of evidence that she could be IR, except she gets laminitis with any high sugar feed.

Her glucose was normal while her insulin level was 4-times normal.
