I agree, Terry.
How about something like American Pop or Oldies (50's, 60's even 70's music). Maybe even mellow rock.
My age is showing. Should I shut up now?

I didn't vote because I don't know the difference between the two spanish type choices...
I prefer the spanish music, but what I REALLY would prefer...is if the music actually WAS in the background and not as loud as it is currently played. Keep it low, audible, but not overpowering. Play a good fast beat for the speed events to generate excitement, but otherwise I wish it were more low-key.

Heidi the traditional SPANISH will be..... like the double step music from SPAIN!!!!! and the LATIN POP will be like the modern stuff, RICKY MARTIN, and the others........

Heidi has a point, Felix.
Latin - instrumental, but not electric.
Like Gypsie Kings or Ottmar Liebert (sp?) for example.
How about some classical guitar with instrumental background music.

I voted for latin pop because it has a beat similar to the pasos. I'm not sure about traditional spanish. And I agree that it shouldn't be too loud. Definately not country, that is too slow for the most part. And I like rock and roll and oldies too....maybe mix it up!

Yes, a mix is preferable to me. I like a soft and pretty instrumental background for Bella Forma. Something with a beat for all other classes, and Pop for Performance and Fino.
I think they really do a good job at Nationals, even playing popular kids music during the Youth classes.

Instrumental....ONLY! No "pop" no "salsa" no "rock" ....just soft, instrumental background music...Spanish guitar, some classical...or even Chuck Mangione...something like that....
But no "blaring" loud music... thats for bars & parties! Not for showing horses..IMO!
I'd rather have no music at all than be forced to listen to blasting music of any kind.
When I was a kid and participated in weeken Gymkhanas... the western music was always blasting, and somethimes they only played one or two 45's over & over again....
Give me something soft, mellow and WORDLESS.... !

OH, GOOD IDEA, CLASSICAL GUITAR!!!!!! LIKE SPANISH CLASSICAL GUITAR, AND SOFT, NOT TAKING AWAY FROM THE MAIN FOCUS POINT (THE HORSES).....
THANKS!

Latin Pop for me...Ottmar Liebert (yeah, I know he's not even Latin...but he must be reincarnated Latin...ha), Oscar Lopez (the music on my website)...that's all I can think of right now...oh, Mark Romero...another one.
I love this type of music...my horses dance to it! But it's got to be Latino of some sort...whether traditional or contemporary...after all, these are Spanish-bred horses!!!

I love this man...if this isn't some of the most beautiful classical guitar you have ever heard...I don't know what is. He is brilliant!
(Actually Ottmar Liebert studied Oscar Lopez for some time...he is one of his mentors...)

Oh he's good, Carol. Thank.
Yes, I see the Ottmar Leibert connection.
I think I'll add him to my CD collection.
I noticed he's playing a lot in Sedona. I'll have to keep that in mind, next time I'm on the West Coast.
Thanks again, Cousin Carol.
It was cool that you turned me on to him. 8-)

I vote for the macarena - over and over and over

The beat and the energy level should mesh with the class. We love it loud.
Our horses love anything with high energy and a good beat! Good latin is hard to beat for beat! ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I like Spanish instrumental especially the beautiful spanish guitar...no lyrics just music.
I picked up a cd from Target called Lifescapes the world traveler Spanish Guitar. It is really nice and I'm going to use some of it on my next Frosty video. There were 2 songs I especailly liked....Camino Verde and In time you will folllow....such wonderful Spanish guitar and the music changes up so nicely so you don;t get bored with it.
I have another cd from the Lifescapes collection I use on my videos.....it has a lot of good songs to use on that one. It is about 3 years old now .

I like a mix of different styles also. Nothing worse then hear the same songs played over and over like at Nationals in years past...again and again...like a broken record, and then too loud you can't hear your neighbor talking to you or hear the rhythm of the hoofbeats passing by.
There have been specific songs about Paso Finos... Scott Nickel used ne for the Western Pleasure class which was very suiting. There is Mary Ann Kennedy's Paso Fino song. She was there singing live at the Nationals when Scott was show chair (2000?)
