In my need to make sure we are going to arrive with the least amount of trouble, I have checked with every state between here and NY to make sure there are no special requirements needed to get our Florida horses into NYC>

I emailed every State Vet and asked for comfirmation of requirements.

Here is what I got back from NY>

Hello Barbara,

Horses traveling into New York State from Florida will need a health certificate dated within 30 days [they are valid for 30 days as well] showing proof of negative Coggins [EIA] within the past twelve months.

In addition, since your final destination will be New York City, you will also need to contact Camilo Zamora, New York City Dept. of Health, at 212 676-2112 for a Permit. Alternatively, you may also fax the above requirements to Camilo at: 212 676-2111 with a cover sheet indicating your request for a permit with the anticipated date of entry.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email for phone if you have additional questions or concerns.

OK> Contacted Camilo....here is what he sent me by email, and he has also faxed me an Exhibit request form. Each horse that is not stabled in NYC must fill out a form. If the horse is stabled in NY State, you do not need to have the Health Certificate approved but you do have to fill out the permit. I will fill out one form for all the FLorida Horses. I will copy the Exhibit form and put it on here for you guys to get a copy of. There is NO cost for the permit...just has to be done.

Kindly fill out the two page exhibit request form. For animals coming out of state, the New York State Agriculture and Markets will need to approve the health certificate(s). Please fax the health certificate to 518-485-7773 and for a quick turnaround you can call them at 518-457-3502. New York State Agriculture and Markets will fax back to you a stamped health certificate.

You would then fax us the completed exhibit request form along with the stamped health certificate and Coggins results along with proof of liability insurance. Our fax number is 212-676-2111 and it must be in our office two business days prior to the event. Once our office approves it, we will fax a permit letter to you. Any questions, feel free to call me at 212-676-2112. Thank you.

OK, now here is where I am not sure about the insurance thing. I am wondering if the Parade committe has secured liability insurance for the parade as a whole?

Jose, can you help with clarifying if the Parade officials have already done any of this for us? I asked Mr. Zamora if he has received any request for permits yet....he said no.

I hope I didn't open a can of worms.......

Just trying to cover our bases and make sure, that after we travel 2000 miles to get there, that we CAN come in to NYC and we CAN participate!

I have scanned the animal exhibt request forms onto my computer. I think it would be easiest if I just emailed those in need. So if you need a copy please email or PM me and I will send to you by email. Or you can call and get Camile Zamora to fax you your own request form....the numbers are there.

Re "Our final destination being NY" thus requiring permits from NYC? I've been informed by the Committee... health certs, coggins, insurance your ok.

It would be helpful for the FL group (boarding in NY a few days) to get a permit.... hopefully in time.
I really wouldn't worry about it though.

Re insurance.... everyone is covered under my insurance during the event. Before and after the event your own insurance would come into play.

So We should list you as our Contact person at the site, and what ins. co do we list for insurance for the event?
Then our boarding liability would be our own insurance carrier right?
